In addition to visitors having stunning views and, a fun climb to the top of both towers, we enjoyed the staff here, as they are absolutely wonderful and knowledgeable. On the day we went, Joe was giving tours. His grasp of the historic and the scientific aspects of the site was encyclopedic. He answered all of our (sometimes ridiculous) questions and went "above and beyond" for over an hour. The gift shop is lovely, but the electronic register was wonky on a very cold day, so, Waverley and Laura fixed it in no time; and customers could quickly buy again what they desired! As for the whole museum and meeting areas: the exhibits, layout of information, and physical environment are perfectly displayed, well-maintained and inviting. The area of Highlands is so lucky to have such an imaginative/devoted Historical Society looking after its legacy. Bravo to everyone. So many interesting facts were learned on a beautiful day, and we had no idea about The Twin Lights' connection to many important milestones of the United States of America's mercantile, technological and social history. Much gratitude to all.... for the time and effort it must have taken to conceive of, assemble together, and upkeep this...

Well worth the trip! There is so much history here and our tour guide Patrick made it come alive for us. He was very knowledgable. He's currently studying for a history degree so you can imagine how enthusiastic and passionate he is about relating the many stories surrounding this unique location.

My wife and I love lighthouses for some strange reason and we were very happy to have visited here.

You can self-guide if you just want to spend a relaxing afternoon on the grounds and in the lighthouse. But we recommend taking the guided tour if you want to learn more about the rich past of this site.

Climb both towers. They are not too difficult and the views are amazing. The entire structure is very well maintained and the museum displays are well thought out, comprehensive, full of artifacts and very interesting on their own.

Patrick relating additional information about the exhibits added another layer of enjoyment for us...

The "The Navesink Twin Light towers" which are located in Highlands, Monmouth County, NJ. The twin lighthouse are a historic site. Once you arrive at the site, it's breath taking. The twin lighthouse tower are situated 200 feet above sea level.

Both towers are open and assessable. You're allow to climb to the top of the towers. The view from the outside of the towers is beautiful. The towers overlooks Sandy Hook Bay. You can see forever on a perfect clear day.

Photographing outside the towers is allowed. We found the staff to be pleasnat and helpful.

The grass and grounds of the Twin light towers are kept majestically clean. You also have a fabulous view from the ground, looking out towards northern New Jersey coastal waters.

Also photographing the towers from the ground up with a perfect sky and clouds. Makes a magificent photo.

I recommend everyone visit The Navesink...

This is a neat spot to go and see stunning views of Sandy Hook, the Atlantic Ocean, and Raritan Bay. There’s no fee to enter the grounds or to park. There’s a donation box of you want to go into the lighthouse towers. At the time of this review, June 2019, both the North and South Towers are open to visitors to go up The South Tower allows you to go into the area where the light used to shine. The North Tower still has a working light that is used for Navigation. There’s a gift shop and museum in the building that connects the two light towers. To get to the top of either light there is a spiral staircase to walk up. It’s pretty narrow to get up and down. Speaking of narrow the roadway getting in and out of the grounds can only accommodate one car in either direction. So exercise caution going in or out.
