Omg!!! I just left this place and will NEVER go back, it was so cringy!!! My husband and I brought our kids there because they like to thrift for fun however I did not want them followed around by teenage staff through out the store like they were stealing.I would never let staff act in such manner. One of the teens was VERY NOTICEABLE SICK!!!! He should be home getting well not coughing, sneezing in tissue, digging in his nose in corners and walking around touching items customers are buying. The symptoms look like Covid!! When we finally did find something...we paid and then my 8 year old realized it was the wrong item and couldn't use it with another item my other daughter bought in a transaction right before (some kinda overpriced water gun). The girl at the register would not refund it, even though we never left the register!!! She told my daughter with a half smirk nonchalantly to go get something else at that price. I didn't agree because most times you have to LEAVE the store in order not to get a refund but I told her ok just do it but she couldn't find anything because the baby clothes she wanted instead was by the guy sneezing all over the place and she didn't want to get sick!!! It was GROSS. As we waited I overheard 3 chinese staff members standing close together talking about customers loudly in a disgusting way and laughing at the customers as they shopped then afterwards saying this store is funny it's always something going on everyday. My daughter found something with $2 needed more to reach the $5 she spent and the girl says oh find something else for $2 more. By then, I got so mad I just told my daughter I'll refund her and let's get out of here NOW!!!š¤š„“. Have fun with the $5 dollars you took from a little girl that didn't know what she was buying. It was actually going to be a surprise gift for her special need sister!! Never againš
(In response to your answer) I see you guys dont take accountability from the shady responses you leave on everyone's review including mine. Do better! Receive the review without blaming it on volunteers. I have pictures and video of everything I discussed and can place it on here it you would like to view it along with the some of the remarks said by the 3 laughing employees talking about other customers that didnt know they were begin talked about in such gross manner. The guy was extremely sick, volunteer or not and once my family got home they were sneezing and coughing after I left that review. The "Manager" was there and it was clear as day for everyone to see that he was sick and should go home. As far as the refund as I stated before keep it, it was $5. It's just ashame you would do that to a kid and a special need one at that... nonprofit or not. Your company mission is about helping others as you stated right??? She never stepped away from your register, like literally took her item and then realized it wasn't what she thought a minute later. Anyway, Have a great day! This will be my last response to foolery. I would never recommend your business to anyone or step foot...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI moved from Hightstown to Florida in August of 2017, and ever since I moved, I've tried my best to keep track of all the changes that have been taking place in my hometown through friends and social media. Recently, I discovered that there was an Instagram page for the Rise Thrift Store in Hightstown which caught my attention immediately because I used to be a volunteer at Rise in 2014. I started following the page and loved how all the pictures were professionally photographed and there were clothing drops each week with a variety of different clothes that could be ordered from the comfort of my own home; even in Florida!! When I messaged the account after finding a shirt I liked, I was helped by Caroline who helped me get a true perspective of the shirt I was ordering before I even received it. The payment process was a breeze and my shirt arrived to my house a couple weeks later. The shirt is very comfortable, and the condition of the shirt felt like I just bought it at a department store for $40. I wore my shirt for the second time yesterday at work and received two compliments on it! One of those compliments actually led to me making a new friend. Along with the shirt came a handwritten note thanking me for shopping with Rise and to keep supporting them in the future. I have every intention of doing so, and I'm happy to see Rise and the Hightstown community doing so well after seeing the state that it was in when I was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHours say open until 7 but they were turning people away at 6:40 pm tonight February 5 2024. They said they were closed at first and when I said arenāt you open until 7 they said āweāre closing earlyā The place seems to be run by teenagers (although I realize they are volunteers) but probably needs more of an adult presence/supervision.
I wouldnāt donate here because I see them throwing stuff away almost every time I have been here. Donāt take donations if you donāt have room.
Iāve found a few things here over the years but prices are way too high on most items. They do have a reasonably good incentive program. Lower your prices instead of throwing donations in the dumpster.
Adding I stopped by here on December 17, 2024 and there was only one young man running the register and also doing stuff in the back. while I applaud his multitasking, the whole time, within earshot, he was muttering under his breath about the idiots who dropped stuff off outside on and on like he was hoping I would respond, but I just ignored him and moved to the other end of the store as It made me...
