Absolutely appalled by the behavior of the owner at Hollis Village Grocery. While traveling through town today, my mother stopped in with my 5-year-old son who was clearly in distress and urgently needed to use the bathroom. Instead of showing any basic human decency, the owner curtly informed her there was no restroom available — despite the obvious fact that the store must have one for staff.
When my mother, left with no other option, brought my son outside to discreetly relieve himself behind the store, the owner followed them out. What happened next was shocking and completely unacceptable: she squatted down to my son’s eye level and told him that only animals pee outside — then proceeded to tell him he should never listen to his grandmother.
Who treats a 5-year-old like that?
This wasn’t just rude — it was aggressive, humiliating, and completely uncalled for. If this is how they choose to interact with visitors and children in need, I can’t imagine how they treat paying customers. I will never support a business that shows such cruelty and poor judgment.
