Hadn't been there for awhile. A friend needed things from there so that was our roadtrip for today. Lots of interesting things to look at, as usual. The food...whew! There was so much that took me to hanabata days. They have a lunch line where you pick either one or two entrees. I had a seafood dish (shrimp, scallops, a huge chunk of salmon with vegetables) and a serving of roast pork with gravy. If you remember the Tsukenjo food truck and their specialty roast pork...it was comparable to that. Both served with rice and cole slaw. YUMMY! There's a Chinese food counter with chow fun, chow mein, dim sum, rice cake, too much to recall. Then, of course, the sushi counter. They have all kinds of sushi; just what your tummy desires. On the opposite side, there's all kinds of bento. If you're on a diet...stay clear! Of course there are foods that were brought in from Japan. Anything you can imagine from Japan, you'll most likely find there. Now, I'm so stuffed, and I'm getting hit with a Kanak attack. So if you'll excuse me,...
Read moreNice place to shop for Asian groceries, kitchen supplies, some beauty and skin care, a few souvenirs. Construction along the road can make it difficult to enter depending on which direction you are coming from. Once in the parking lot, there is ample parking. Prices on some items can be higher than I feel they should be. Overall we enjoy shopping here. They have very convenient hot pot veggie kits, variety of fresh mushrooms to add to hot pot. Lots of cold teas and coffees, we always like trying new ones. So many sweets and crackers to choose from. Freezer section is fairly small. Excellent meat selection for hot pot, shabu shabu and stir fry. Large variety of noodles and sauces. They have a little rice stand with excellent quality rice. My family hasn't been impressed with the prepared dim sum and such. Nothing beats freshly prepared and eaten. Highly recommend a visit when you have plenty of time. Lost a star due to prices on some items and the...
Read moreReally enjoy going here to shop for local and Asian goods. Hamachi collars, oxtail, S&B curry, and imitation crab meat are staples you can find here along with good quality veggies and fruits. If you want something from Japan, their seasonal items are very good. I appreciate their hot food section for its variety and convenience. I would skip their Chinese food, though, as it is not as good as Chinatown or dedicated Chonese restaurants. Their musubis are not bad, especially the salmon konbu. They recently added a bunch of gotchapan machines and a large Japanese animation display section, which reminded me more of Japan. Really cool. I wish they would bring back the variety of Japanese Kit Kats so I can get my candy fix since I can't travel to Japan every year. This is a bimonthly stop for my family, and when they have the Japan regional fairs, the samples and cooking outside are great. Would love to have the Andagi folks back again. We love...
