I’ve been living in Houston for about three years now, and Blackwolf CrossFit is the first gym where I’ve truly felt a sense of community. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and supported. This gym gets me excited to show up, push myself, and grow as an athlete, all while actually having fun. If you’re looking for a place to challenge yourself, stay consistent, and be surrounded by good people, Blackwolf is the gym for you. One of the best parts of the experience is the coaching staff. Nicole led my very first class, and I was immediately impressed by her structure and attention to detail. She’s a highly experienced CrossFit coach who prioritizes technique, safety, and continuous improvement. Whether you’re brand new or a seasoned athlete, you’ll walk away from her class better than when you came in. Her goal is to make sure everyone is progressing, and she delivers on that every time. Ricardo brings the energy and good vibes to every class. He also organizes community events at the gym, and I’ll never forget how he personally invited me to the Friendsgiving when I was still new. That gesture made me feel instantly included. His workouts are high-energy, even on days when you’re not feeling your best, and somehow you always leave in a better mood than when you arrived. Valerie, Drew, and Lakin are the newer coaches, but you’d never guess it. They’ve been trained by the best and bring the same Blackwolf energy. Valerie was the first of the newer coaches I met. She’s an amazing athlete, and even before I attended one of her classes, she took time out of her own workouts to help me with movements. She’s approachable, encouraging, and has helped me build confidence in myself. Because of her, I’ve pushed past self-doubt, tried new skills, and even joined the Blackwolf Open, which has been one of the highlights of my time here. Drew sometimes teams up with Val, and together they’re a total vibe. Drew leads by example. He’s a skilled athlete and a supportive coach who makes even the most advanced movements feel achievable. He keeps things fun, upbeat, and challenging in the best way. Before their classes, you wouldn’t catch me upside down. After training with them, we’re doing wall walks. That says... a lot... lol Lakin coaches in the early mornings, so I haven’t made it to her class yet, but I got to know her during the Blackwolf Open. She’s kind and welcoming, just like every other coach at this gym. If you’re an early bird, you’re in great hands with her. And finally, Ben, is the heart of Blackwolf. As the owner, he sets the tone for everything. His passion for CrossFit is clear, and his commitment to the community is what keeps this place thriving. He greets members by name, checks in often, and personally programs the workouts each week to push us physically and mentally. He even writes a weekly blog to recognize member milestones and accomplishments. When I hit a PR on my back squat, seeing it mentioned in the newsletter made me feel so proud. That kind of attention to detail makes Blackwolf feel more like a sports team than a gym. And Ben’s bold personality makes his classes unforgettable. You’ll know what I mean when you train with him. Just come ready to work! :) It’s been about six months since I joined Blackwolf CrossFit. I came in feeling stuck and unmotivated. Now, I look forward to every workout, every laugh, and every bit of progress. Joining Blackwolf has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. This is more than just a gym. It’s a team, and we’re all getting stronger and glowing up together. <3

Where do I begin? I’ve been going to Black Wolf CrossFit for three years, and if you’re thinking about visiting, run, don’t walk (because cardio šŸ’…šŸ½). LOL. But if you’re not quite able to run yet, don’t worry, this place will whip you into the best shape you’ve ever been in, all while building your confidence and performance. āž”ļø Here’s the tea: I’m not a competitive CrossFitter, but I do enjoy the blend of strength training, cardio, gymnastics, etc. I work out here 3x a week for the variety and complement it with Pilates and yoga. āž”ļø āž”ļø The environment here is welcoming and friendly. Come as you are. For real. āž”ļø āž”ļø āž”ļø The BEST part of this gym is the PEOPLE. From the founder and head coach, Ben, to the other coaches (including Ricardo and Nicole) and the members, this gym provides a community of motivation, encouragement, kindness, acceptance, and fun.

My wife and I have been going to Black Wolf since early this year and have been tremendously impressed with Ben and the rest of the team. We were brand new to CrossFit and were not sure what to expect when we started. We very quickly felt included and apart of the group. The staff and members are very encouraging and motivating. We absolutely love tackling our morning workouts alongside a fantastic group of kind and driven individuals and would highly recommend the gym to anyone who is wanting to try out CrossFit!

I have been a member of Black Wolf for almost one year now. All I can say is this- my decision to join Black Wolf after my one week trial has been one of the best decisions I have made in some time. The coaching is tremendous. The coaches know each and every one of us in the gym- strengths, weaknesses, areas for improvement, etc. They also know everyone’s name! They greet you as you walk in the gym, acknowledge your efforts during the workout, and make sure to send you parting words as you leave for the day. I have never felt so welcome. Another thing you will notice during your very first workout is that the coaches are very thorough in their explanation, instruction, and critique. They observe your form and function with a keen eye not only to challenge the athlete to push himself/herself, but also to insure that the work and movement is done safely. I never thought I would be able to do some of the things I can now do thanks to the attention to detail and direction by the coaching staff. In addition to the coaches, the fellow athletes are amazing. Whether you attend at 5am or 4:30pm, there is sure to be an incredible group of athletes that are truly there for one reason, to be better. In addition to being incredibly strong, the fellow athletes are also humble, encouraging, accommodating, welcoming, and motivating. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to be a member, and I intend to be a part of this community as long as I am...

Black Wolf is a place for the long time dedicated and a place for the newbie just the same. Ben and Joel have created the most professional and personal blend of coaching in the entire city of Houston. Each is dedicated to helping you reach your full potential and they will bend over backwards to help as long as you commit to doing your part too!

I've been working out with Ben since 2012 and our community has been a positive influence on me from the beginning. From daily motivation during the WOD to support outside the gym, I couldn't ask for more (whether it is running a race, a weightlifting competition, a charity event, or just a life event, I have seen "the gym" consistently show up in full support of anyone out there being awesome)!

Of course, my positive words are a direct reflection of my love for the gym. In my first review of the gym 2 or 3 years ago, I pondered if everyone walking into the gym would have the same positive experience I have had over the years. Originally, I believed that, as with most things, "to each their own" and allowed for the possibility that some people might prefer other gyms. While this is still possible, I would like to modify the criteria. If you are willing to be accountable for yourself, cognizant/respectful of those around you and genuinely believe (or are looking for the belief) that you can always improve, you owe it to yourself to come check out Black Wolf, because you WILL NOT find a better...
