I joined Kinitro 3 months ago and it has been the best decision I’ve made this year. It brought back my love for the gym.
For the 18 months before that I tried different high-end gyms, new programming, and going at different times. I was inconsistent, dreaded every session, and my lifts steadily declined over that period. This came after three years when the gym had been the best part of my day, five days a week. I impulsively filled out Kinitro’s interest form and, 30 minutes later, the owner, John, called to talk through my goals and set up a trial.
After my first 6 a.m. Strength and Conditioning class with Coach Mark, I signed up on the spot and canceled my other membership in the parking lot. Mark breaks movements down clearly, gives short, useful cues, and keeps form front and center—somehow with great energy at 6 a.m. He’s relentlessly encouraging without being pushy: he knows when to nudge the weight and when to hold it so I can clean up my form. He’s also incredibly attentive—he’ll work with me between sets on my setup and then watch the very next set to make sure the change sticks; it often feels like personal training, and he does that for everyone in the class. He’s helped me identify small issues in lifts I’ve done for years. Classes are tracked in Wodify, so I can see last week’s numbers and choose the right working sets.
While I have fewer interactions with other coaches, I’ve had positive experiences with them too—Coach Maria and Coach Jeremiah bring awesome energy to Saturday classes which tend to be the busiest. I haven’t taken Strongman with Coach Terrance yet, but he spotted an issue that was impacting my squat and helped me adjust it. Coach Julie subbed one of my classes, and I found her friendly and encouraging as well!
Another highlight is the community: the 6 a.m. group (usually a mix of the same 6–10 people, all levels) is welcoming and encouraging. The Saturday classes are a bit busier, and it's always a fun group as well.
The facility is great. It’s not a machine showroom (no pec deck or leg press) and leans toward more practical tools: tons of racks, barbells, dumbbells, sleds, TRX, and cardio—bikes, rowers, AirRunner, SkiErgs—with accessories like jump ropes, step-up boxes, bands, and medicine balls. The showers and bathrooms are always clean and stocked with hair ties in case of emergencies. The gym has an InBody, and I’m pretty sure there’s a cold plunge, but I haven’t used it. There is also a vending machine with protein drinks and snacks! The price point is mid range for a boutique gym in my experience. All of the membership tiers come with open gym access.
In closing, I can't say enough about Kinitro—the coaches, community, and gym are nothing short of amazing. After 18 months of dreading workouts, I now genuinely look forward to my time in the gym again. If you're still reading, you're probably doing your homework on gyms like I was—do yourself a favor fill out the interest form and...
Read moreA long overdue review:
I originally visited Kinitro for 5 months in 2022-2023.
Whether your coming in as an athlete to train or an average enthusiast looking for a good workout, Kinitro will have something for you. I was here for a short stint of time but all the people at the gym and the employees were kind, considerate, and encouraging for whatever fitness goals somebody was coming in for.
Accessibility - Hours of the gym are good. Because of how class oriented this gym is, you may have to work around groups if they require certain equipment for training on that day. Checking in/out is via front desk but if you are a frequent visitor, it is much faster.
Lockers - There are some small lockers near the entrance that allows you to store your things away. The lock is built into the lockers so you don't need to worry about having one on hand.
Cleanliness - Very clean space with proper cleaning stations when your done with the equipment. The place is always kept very tidy whenever I visited.
Offerings - I cannot say much about this other than the classes but I feel like this is what makes this place special. You've got conditioning and strongman, of which the latter I participated in. Julie the instructor does a very good job of teaching correct form and pushing you when it matters. Everybody else in the class is also super encouraging and it makes you want to stay committed to the journey.
Equipment - A standout of this gym imo. While there are machines available, the free weights / special equipment is the highlight. Perfect for anyone who is serious about their training.
Price - As a regular gym for those who just want to train on their own, this place can be considered pricier. Combining with classes will be slightly more but is worth it. The main draw here compared to other gyms is how anyone coming in will not only have a great workout, but be part of an amazing community.
Customer Service - Excellent. You won't be pushed to get anything you don't need. Your personal health and fitness is important here and it shows as Kinitro will work with providing the best plan for you. Cancellation is hassle-free and if anything comes up, your concern is always addressed promptly.
Unfortunately, I had to leave Kinitro as I was moving cities but the community I made there is unforgettable. I've bounced around so many different kinds of fitness programs but strongman at Kinitro got me hooked. Not being able to find any equipment at other gyms on par with Kinitro, I decided to make my own in the garage. Hopefully I can come back someday to...
