Lorraine Cherry Nature Preserve — Attraction in Houston

I came here because it was recommended to as an "urban oasis", but I was really disappointed. It is a very short trail and you would have to loop around about 4x just to make about a mile. It is very shaded, but definitely not the prettiest park I've ever been to. It would be a decent place to go if I lived in that neighborhood, but not worth the trip for those who don't live close by. Nice nature trails and overall decent Park. Only two things that were negatives is that someone was camped out in the middle of the nature trail area and apparently some people don't keep their dogs on a leash. I have two small children and one dog started approaching then that didn't look friendly at all. All the owner did was whistle which the dog didn't pay attention to at all. Love the park, but today, there were several irresponsible pet owners who would not bother to leash their pets (as others have mentioned). Carrying the leash in your hands doesn't count, and you are ruining the experience for countless others. Remove the baseball fence and leave the entire open space for picnics or to just relax.
