Resurrection MCC is a spiritually uplifting and genuinely welcoming place. The messages are consistently inspiring, and I've found a real sense of community here. It's a beacon of love in a world that often feels divided. However, like many institutions, we are not immune to the systemic issues that exist in the wider world. While we preach inclusion, we must actively confront the subtle and sometimes overt ways that biases can manifest within our own walls. We have significant work to do in dismantling racism, ensuring our church is not just diverse but truly equitable for our BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) members. We also need to be more conscious of ableism, examining how accessible our physical and digital spaces are, and how we support members with disabilities. I love this church for its potential and its heart. My hope in writing this is that we can move forward together, turning our good intentions into concrete actions to become the fully inclusive Beloved Community we are...

I wish there would be at least a big screen or a projector to watch from the back section, since the stage was not that elvated to see the performers. Otherwise, the whole experience was positive and I recommend for...
Read moreThe church's failure to honor Hispanic Heritage Month until the very last Sunday is not a mistake; it's the latest sign of a deep, unresolved problem Resurrection MCC has had for years. Many people of color have left this church because of the racism within it, and many will continue to at this rate. I really hope that we can begin again the process of healing this racism, as the late Reverend Vickie Gibbs once did, before this problem costs this church its diverse congregation. But as of today, Resurrection Metropolitan Community Church is an unsafe space for...
