The water park closes at 8 the restaurants in Kalahari closed at 9. So if you want dinner, go in your wet suits! One place stayed open "as long as the arcade" so we were forced to eat there. (they have no times for the restaurants or prices listed anywhere) we called the front desk for info and they sent us a text to the kalahari website which has no prices or times listed, as I said. So the staff was essentially useless. So at the downstairs arced snack bar... 3 of us ordered meals, sandwiches or tenders with fries. My fries were burnt, my daughter's fries were under cooked and floopy, and my husband's fries had so much garlic salt he couldn't eat it, and he loves garlic. Basically the food was trash, the chicken tenders were cold, dry, and hard. Spent over 60 bucks on food we couldn't even eat. When I went up to get my kid fresh fries they said they couldn't do anything because they were closing.. save yourself the hassle and the money don't eat inside Kalahari. The breakfast buffet was the most expensive and for the cost was not worth it. 14.99 for kids 10 and under 24.99 for adults (not including drinks) the food was all cold and nasty. Mostly frozen and re heated items. The muffins and breads were all rock hard. I didn't want to ruin my day at the water park by eating food that was not at the correct temperature... Again over 60$ on good we couldn't eat. So eat breakfast elsewhere or bring in something you can make in your hotel room microwave, like oatmeal.
The water park was pretty good besides the rides with tubes, most of the tubes needed to be inflated more, if you got a flattened tube you might scrape your butt on the concrete floor or get your back smacked against a wall that a well inflated tube would have saved you from. Most of the staff was foreign kids so they are putting you on the rides and telling you how to safety ride, whilst you can scarcely understand what they are saying. Also there was a tiny turd floating in The lazy river so we got out and didn't go back in. The suit wringers in the locker room were broken, which i think is a pretty important thing guests need as they are leaving the park. The arcade is a major rip off! You cannot spend all the money you load onto your card! So for each card kalahari sells, they keep between 4-6 dollars. The cheepest game cost 4 credits (thats 2 dollars per play, and there was only 1 game, all the rest cost even more) many of the games had instructions that were posted so high I couldn't even read them.. the prizes from the shop were also cheep. For the 30 we spent in the arcade my kid got a fun dip and a chinese finger trap. Pretty disappointing how greedy they are. I would rather let her go into Walmart and pick out something for 30$. The games are mostly for adults and so any children unattended are probably wasting money on games they don't even know how to play. Geared at "family fun" but more like taking advantage of families with ungodly high food prices and a rip off literally stealing money from you right under your nose with arcade cards. The positive side is you can avoid most of the B.S. by packing a cooler for your hotel room and avoid the arcade and restaurants. For those of you who do have extra money to burn.. what was your experience? Did you think the food was trash and over priced? Do we think it's ok for Kalahari to just keep our money we can't spend on our arcade cards, that they specifically designed this arcade so you can't spend all of your money. Some acrades will state- to load this card you will be charged 1 dollar. People are like OK, that's fine. But nowhere does Kalahari say once you load this card you can't get the unspant money back, also they only sell the cards with specific amounts so you can't get around their system. It's flat out thievery in the name of family fun. Transparency is everything and when a business hides details like this, they won't be getting anymore of my business. Many other water parks in Ohio to choose from who do not sneakily skim money off...
Read moreI had a great time with the family here several times. They added a new slide since last week came but I was mixed on giving it 3 or 4 stars for a few reasons. One is I kept ordering groceries and they kept turning the walmart delivery away. I placed the order to use the kitchen I paid extra to have in my room. I even called and asked for the process and did it to a T. So it was order their 40 dollar 20 inch pizza or go out for fast food. I just wanted to cook for my family. When I ordered breakfast it again was turned away. I walked to front desk and they said I needed to order and wait for them to come. Walmart gives you a 3 hour window and it's a waterpark so your not gonna keep your phone on you. I asked why they couldn't have called when they arrived like for my breakfast foods and they said they do not do that and could not allow them to bring to my door for security reasons and most hotels don't allow it. News flash, been to many hotels and resorts, they ALL ALLOW THIS! I had enough I wanted upper management. They said a whole different story. They allow it maybe walmart didn't want to bring it up... right walmart don't want money and rather waste it paying drivers to bring back food and provide refunds. I argued for a partial refund, why did I pay for a kitchen if they refused mt food orders. They wouldn't. So we had to eat fast food which I don't even like, had a kitchen to look at not use, and a very confused staff that don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. Mind blowing ignorance. Their food is crazy expensive. A hot pretzel with a small cheese cup was about $11. I already mentioned the pizza. A souvenir cup was $7 and ya might say that's a good price until you realize it costs about $23 $24 dollars a drink for low tier drinks. Top self I think was $28 or $30. Just insanely over priced. Also make sure you prepay for your waterpark tickets and plan to pay way ahead to save. I saw some folks at the front desk that needed water park tickets that had hotel rooms being told they were sold out! Why would someone want to stay at a waterpark hotel with no waterpark access! Mind blowing stupidity on the business aspect🤯. Also they go on a sliding scale for pricing. What cost 75 bucks could cost 125 to maybe 150 at the end of the night. It's insane. Also they use textured paint on the slide steps, which is good but they also paint it on the stairs faces.... meaning it's super easy to scrap off skin from the tips of your toes making you bleed. Also PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE 7 D MOVIES. Even workers say they are so old the quality is super failing. The 3 D is not 3D for the most part, it's all separated. Than if you want pictures don't go to the clown one. They don't tell you ahead of time that that SINGLE ONE won't allow pictures printed and no refund. Just go there for the waterpark only and only if you book a good deal. Nothing else...
Read moreThe Waterpark itself is fun. There's lots to do and plenty of options for the whole family. Water was clean and warm. A pretty cool place.
The hotel room was okay. It was a room that included a "bunk room" for my younger teenage daughter and her friend. The room doesn't have a door, but that's okay the beds are bunk beds for children, so no door is understandable. The main bedroom was spacious, with a closet, dresser, and safe. There is also a living room / dining room that was spacious as well. A table with 4 or 5 chairs, a couch and 2 comfy chairs, a mini fridge, microwave and a coffee maker, as well as a gas fire place are located in this space. There is also a small patio with patio furniture that overlook the outdoor water park.
The fact that I had a room that overlooked the outdoor water park made zero difference, as I had to walk QUITE a ways to get to the only entrance into the park. That was repeated a few times throughout the 2 days that we stayed. I understand that it's a large facility, but there has to be a better way than having 1 entrance to the outdoor park that is surrounded on 3 sides by the resort hotel.
The entrance to the indoor Waterpark is past every imaginable expensive trap that you would expect to see at a Waterpark (Coffee shop, ice cream place, food, 2 gift shops an arcade etc...). To be expected, but just a heads up. Prepare the younger ones by telling them beforehand that you've already spent a ton of money on this trip lol.
The check in and check out process was seamless. The $200 deposit was not necessarily all bad. It allows you to use your wristband as a charge account of sorts, which is nice, but at the same time, $200 isn't something all people have available to them. The baggage dollies were super small and annoying, spilled a bag on the way out solely because the size of the baggage cart. Small inconvenience, but a seemingly solvable one on their part.
All in all it was a fun experience, but I don't know that I'll come back to stay overnight. Maybe a day pass to the Waterpark if there is ever a...
