There is always something interesting taking place at Washington Park! The weekend I visited, they were hosting the annual African Arts Festival. It was the ideal place to shop international without getting out your passport and heading to the airport! Many vendors displayed beautiful, authentic clothing, artifacts, and art, all of which was for your perusal and for sale. There were food vendors as well, providing an opportunity to taste the foods and spices of Africa. Performers were on hand, and musicians providing provocative melodic drumming. I came away pleased with my purchases. I have added a new mask, and statue to my prized collection! Excited to attend next year! I have even been invited to Cameroon by a vendor from whom...

I took a bus on a Tuesday morning from downtown to go to the DuSable Museum in the park. It is on the edge of the park closer to the University of Chicago. The bus wasn't crowded and I spoke with the bus driver the whole way. He made sure to tell me that it was okay to go from the bus stop to the museum, but warned me not to go into the park. He even dropped me off as close to the museum as possible even though there was no bus stop there! I stood in front of the museum and had a smoke before I went in. I really didn't see anybody in the park. It was kinda eerie. I wouldn't go into this park alone at any time, and would especially avoid...

Since I wrote the below a month ago, there has been a remarkable difference in the garbage. Not sure if my note had anything to do with it but the park has been much cleaner the last few weeks. Keep up the good work. 11.4.2024

Washington park is beautiful and I walk around the lagoon almost every day, all year. However the amount of garbage there is depressing. The bins aren't emptied frequently enough. If a bin isn't on the edge of the road it isn't emptied at all. Any garbage around the bins isn't picked up. There is garbage around each bench. Parties leave piles of garbage that is...

I came to Washington Park to see the Fountain of Time. While there's no water in the pool during the winter/spring, it gave me the advantage of stepping into the empty pool and walk right up to see the sculpture for closer photographs. Walk around the backside of the sculpture as you get to see more figures and expressive images on the back that you can't see from the front of the fountain. * Remember to keep Chicago beautiful and place your trash in the garbage can and scoop after your pets. Thanks for reading my review!

The Bud Billiken Parade held It Takes A Village Family Fair in Washington Park and it was awesome. The variety of vendors and participants there was a great experience for families experiencing both the Parade and the celebration in the park. It was located near Dyett High School on the Northwest side near the softball fields. We look forward to next year's festival.
