Sharks Fish & Chicken 51st and Cottage Grove — Restaurant in Hyde Park Township

CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS! SHARKS IS OVER CHARGING PEOPLE! On 7/9/2022 my mom and I stopped at Sharks on 51st and Cottage Grove because my mom wanted some Perch fish. I informed the cashier Cre (name on the receipt) that I had two separate orders but I would pay for them together. She ignored my request and she ring up my moms order first. I ordered a small shrimp dinner which was $11.99 on their digital menu. I had to ask for my receipt and the cashier made an issue of me asking stating that she only gives a receipt if people ask for them. I told her that anytime currency is exchanged a receipt should be given without having to ask. She mumbled the entire time as if I was bothering her and she had an unpleasant attitude the entire time. While waiting, I noticed that she over charged me. My receipt had $12.50 plus tax when the digital menu had $11.99. She called one of the cooks to the register so I pointed out to him that the menu clearly has $11.99 yet I was charged $12.50. He then debated with me that the prices went up and that he was going to change the menu tomorrow morning. I told him that you can’t charge customers tomorrow’s prices today but he wasn’t listening. We went back and forth and he was reluctant to give me the 51 cents difference so I asked for a refund. I then asked for my moms receipt and hers was ok. The cook gave me a full refund then he went right back to preparing food with the same dirty gloves on that he had on at the register. After I drove off I noticed one of the coins that he gave me that I thought was a quarter was actually a foreign coin. I won’t ever go back to this Sharks! Incredible chicken! Wonderful staff! Super friendly atmosphere! Quick service! I could go on, but I believe you get the point that this was an incredible experience for me. I drove from Texas to visit with family over the 4th of July weekend, and they took me here for lunch. I was utterly blown away by this family-friendly neighborhood establishment. The staff greeted me with a pleasant and professional attitude, and 10 minutes later, I had some of the best-tasting chicken wings that would have made my mother AND sisters wonder if someone had given away their secret seasoning recipe! I am a professional chicken eater, and let me tell you this place is one of maybe 5 in the world that I know of that can cook southern tasting food that I would be willing to drive over a thousand miles to eat! Do yourself a favor and just go there. You will not be disappointed, I promise! If you don't like it, I will buy your next lunch; that's how confident I am that you will love it. To the team at the restaurant, see you next year when I use the excuse of visiting my family to hide my real intentions to come back just for your fantastic food! I live down the street from this Sharks and I have been eating here for years. The chicken is amazing. Last night, I ordered something different, mozzarella sticks and a gyro pizza puff. I'll stick with the chicken from now on. The mozrella sticks were tasty but the gyro pizza puff tasted and looked disgusting I could taste that is was fried in fish grease. The main reason I gave the business a one star rating is because an employee was arguing with a customer. I do believe the customer was in the wrong, but to have a ten minute argument in a packed restaurant on a Saturday night is very unprofessional. After the customer left the employee was still talking about it to everyone in the store. I mentioned to the manager he shouldn't have let that happen and he said he asked her to be quiet. I told him I was going to write a negative review. I'm happy that the resuturaunt was remodeled not too long ago and looks really nice. Poor customer service and stick with chicken or fish. I'll return though I like the food and I know customer service isn't something...
