The staff here nearly ruined the night. I attended the Weird Al 2025 concert and had purchased a VIP pass. I had brought a CD pamphlet that I wanted signed, my first album I had ever heard or owned of his. I went in, got ready, sat down, and then realized I'd forgotten the pamphlet in my car. Went to go get it, but wasn't allowed out. I had never experienced that before, and didn't realize that was the policy. I spoke with multiple people, and they got me a manager. I explained the situation, that I had driven 4 hours to be here and just wanted to get it from my car. He simply said, "You know, seems like you wouldn't forget it if you'd driven here for 4 hours." I was shocked that he would handle it that way. I was like, haven't you ever forgotten something? I then said I was willing to leave him my wallet or other ID or something as collateral, if that would help with whatever they were concerned about. Nope. I then said, is there anyone who can help? I'd even be willing to give my keys to you and tell you where my car is if you'd be willing to help out, and I would just wait, just please anything. He then said "Dude, I have things to do. I ain't got time to go to your car. But you're welcome to go out there, I just won't let you back in." And left it at that. By this point I'm in tears. I finally went to the door and found someone coming in, and was able to convince them (a complete stranger with no affiliation with the venue) to take my keys and get it from my car before they checked in. They were kind enough to help out, thank goodness, but for the next hour I was totally shook by how very nearly the most important part of that night for me, was ruined. Shame on you and your staff for having no desire to help, and showing no care for your customer at all, and even accusing them of lying or being incompetent. That's not what customer service is about. I was willing to work with you in any way to make it simpler, and your staff was mercilessly intolerant during an event that I was so excited about. All that excitement was shattered by your staff, and that unfortunately is something that will taint the memory of that night for a very long time. I made it clear to a staffer later that I will not be returning to the venue ever in the future. I will drive to anywhere else, but never again will I or anyone I know and can convince otherwise come back here. I will also not be banking with Mountain America for any reason...
Read moreMaybe it's just me, but as a concert venue Hero Arena doesn't make the cut. I've been to several concerts at anti hero arena now and each time I've felt like a prisoner. The guards constantly walk up and down the isles to the point that it was distracting from the show. At one point, while In This Moment was playing, one of these female guards forcibly pushed a young lady out of the isle into her assigned seat area. I'm sure there are fire codes that dictate that the isle needs to stay clear, maybe the guard was having a bad night, either way it was uncalled for. Further, I wasn't allowed to bring my medically prescribed nicotine lozenges into the venue. That's absolutely uncalled for and out of hand. Nicotine lozenges should be encouraged in this type of venue as smoking and vaping are banned. Finally, where is the security checking for wristbands. I personally witnessed a man with a wristband give a young lady without a wristband a second beer he was holding. She looked around 16 years old. I could be totally wrong, but it wasn't the only incident at this concert where I witnessed people without wristbands chugging beer. But yes it's my medically prescribed nicotine lozenges that are the problem. Seriously whoever is running this place needs to take a chill pill. Next, I have never had a good auditory experience at this venue. Acousticslly, it incredibly loud. Sure I'm no spring chicken, but I enjoy loud music that verberates through your body. However, the sound level at hero arena is unbearable and it's hard to believe it doesn't do permanent damage to listeners. Finally, the food service is deplorable. The first time at the arena we had Macaroni and cheese. The server, who wasn't wearing gloves, wiped her nose with the back of her hand before scooping our our macaroni. We just threw away the food and didn't tell anyone. That's on me. Next, after Avatar played I went to get a burger. I waited 8 minutes in line only to be served a burger and fries that had been sitting in the window for at least the duration I was in line. Needless to say the burger was cold and dry and the fries were soggy. Get better Hero Arena. I want to like you, but for now I feel much better off visiting Salt Lake...
