Don Nisbett Art Gallery — Attraction in Ilwaco

Don is a class act. He's kind and inviting to our kids. He's been here for years and is one of Washington's most famous living artists. We make it a point to stop in here and pick something up every visit. He's tied into his community, as are most business owners in a small town. He makes a great effort to visit with every patron. He loves interpretation on northwest coastal themes, be they mythical (think mermaids and sasquatch) or scenic (think fishing boats and sea life), but he ventures well beyond any box you want to put him in. You can't drive around the area without seeing his art on local business signs, advertisements, and various places. He's an exemplary representative of his town, county, and the state of Washington. We really enjoy his attitude and the feeling he gives us as patrons, like we matter to him. Thank you Don! We really enjoy the customization you always do for us...

We almost always make a detour to Illwaco when in the area to visit, catch up on his latest waitlist and hopefully get to see his latest piece in process! We have most of our Wallspace covered in Don and other Southwest Washington Coadt local artists! It’s our happy place and Don as a person and in his work creates, celebrates and shows us all what a truly beautiful place it is, both is humorous images of seagulls and Crab roasting marshmallows on a beach fire to exquisitely crafted images of the wildlife, the scenic area, detailed maps and relics and life in a beach community! And if it’s a Saturday in the summer the boardwalk farmers market may be going on or on the first a Thursday I think (ask Don) there...

Don is a gifted, talented and well respected artist in the region. His niche ocean related artwork can also be seen in and around various buildings around the region. His popular "12" Seahawks themed work is definitely a favorite, and his popular style of mixing comedic themes into his easily recognizable style generates plenty of smiles and admiration for young and old alike. Don is also usually found working in the shop and is always interesting to talk to. He has even been known to do custom work on request. He has plenty of great collectibles too as well as nice pieces painted on driftwood and the like to add a nice ambience...
