I Found the Best Pizza in the World in Ilwaco.
Just 5 minutes outside of Long Beach you will find the best pizza in the entire world. Finally, I got the chance to visit and I’m excited to share my experience with you.
Amber - queen of all pizza chefs invited and welcomed me, into her pizzeria to learn about her Lunch Special, her famous dough and the mind-blowing science behind the toppings that she uses. The fresh salad was embarrassingly delicious, with a dynamic balsamic dressing.
Amber and her pizza bring people from all over the world to Ilwaco – a town quite frankly in the middle of (beautiful) nowhere five minutes outside of Long Beach. Droves of people make this a mandatory stop to eat because of Amber. Celebrities, renowned foodies, simply everyone who hears of her can be easily convinced to make the journey and come here just for incredibly special pizzas.
You’ll find this pizzeria in the heart of historic downtown Ilwaco which is a lovely little town far from the busiest cities in the Pacific Northwest. It sits inside an old building from the 1900s which has been completely renovated in a modern looking style yet still respects the original architecture.
With a few different seating arrangements to choose from, Serious Pizza in Ilwaco, offers an ideal space to spend your summer evenings savoring everything gourmet while enjoying the fresh sea breeze of the warm season, sheltered by a...
Read moreOrdered online. Three 8" personal pizzas to pick up an hour before close - $15/each. It was clear when I arrived that the had already closed and just there for my order. Chairs all stacked. Just me, cook and one staff sitting in one unstacked chair, looking like she didn't want to be there. Box was 8", pizza was not. Crust not anything close to as advertised. Dough was not fresh or bubbly. Looked and felt like a dense, too recently unfrozen, gluten-free crust. Looked like elementary school lunch food. Tasted only slightly better. They should have canceled the order rather than fulfill it without a lesser product. There again, if that's their best, they may be struggling to stay afloat. Regardless, just go to Chico's or a nywhere else to get your pizza, it will be better tasting and a better value. And if you are in Portland and want to experience a really good personal pizza, stop by Lazy Day Brewing; we went there yesterday and their 6" Chicago-style personal pie is so good - so much more substantial and exponentially better tasting - that you will laugh out loud at the difference in quality. I do not own or work at Lazy Day or any food business, so this not strategic or vindictive. Just an honest review about poorly produced,...
Read moreIt has been a while since I have eaten here and the last time was awesome. High prices even then, but still good. Tonight, not so much. The calzone I ordered was burnt and extremely dry. It was supposed to be a 3 cheese calzone and only had ricotta in it, at least what I could see and taste. The dryness of the inside was like paste in your mouth. Very few ingredients were put in the inside. When I pay over $15 for a calzone, that's not a very big one mind you, I expect it to have more than just a few pieces of candaian bacon and mushrooms. I mean, come on. We are on the precipice of a Medieval, secular economy, meaning the common folk be broke and we are about to start foraging for food. Prices are too expensive as it is and when I want to take a night off from cooking, it sucks to pay so much for way less than par food. Sadly, I will not be coming back to this place. And of course, I ate what I could before waving the white flag because I'm hungry and spent the money on it. I'll just make my own from now on, screw...
