Moon Valley Nurseries will take advantage of you, over charge you, over promise you and under deliver. From the salesman to management once you sign your contract itās all over. My wife and I met with Bill Norman from Moon Valley Nurseries in Irvine. Bill said he needed to come to our house and see the landscaping project. A few days later he showed up and walked the site with me and we talked about the different options and he said they would prepare a plan and be in touch. When the plan was finished we drove to Moon Valley Nurseries went over the plan. I took the plan and submitted it to our HOA for approval. Once the plan was approved we notified Moon Valley Nurseries. Moon Valley Nurseries wanted to drive over to our home and pick up a check. Which should have been my first clue, but I had them come over anyhow and pick up a check for over $17,000. Which was payment for half of the landscaping job that was promised. The work was scheduled for June 15th so once again Moon Valley Nursery wanted to drive to my house to pick up another $17,000+ for the balance of the work before it even started. On June 15th Moon Valley Nurseries with several guys showed up. On the surface things looked like they were going well, I even sent a text āNice job so far we love it! There are still things missing are they coming backā but at the end of the day when the crews left I was concerned that many plants, shrubs and trees were missing. And, after walking around the job site I noticed that the soil had not been prepped, my drains had been covered up by 8 inches of dirt, and Moon Valley Nursery did not even take away any dirt from the job site. After digging the holes for the trees and plants Moon Valley Nursery just piled the soil up against the tree trunks, drains, patio deck and wall caps. It was quickly a mess when the sprinklers went on, we had mud everywhere. I noticed the plants had been planted in holes with no grading in the slightest fashion. I had to hire another contractor to come fix the mess Moon Valley Nurseries had created. I quickly became concerned that I got scammed into paying $33,000 for a landscaping job that only bought me at most $10,000 worth of plants and trees and a few hole diggers. I texted Moon Valley Nurseries on Thursday June 15, 2017 and asked about my missing landscape. Moon Valley Nurseries salesman Bill Norman said he would be on site the entire time however, he left early and never knew that I was missing landscaping. Moon Valley Nurseries salesman Bill Norman texted me that same evening stating that he would check with Moon Valley when he got back to the office on Saturday the 17th. I never heard from Moon Valley on the morning of the 17th so I texted again at 1:07 on the 17th asking when are you coming back to finish? Still no answer, so I texted again at 2:50 still no response. Finally, I get a response from Moon Valley Nursery that they will be back out Thursday or Friday the 22nd or 23rd. When no one showed up on the 22nd I sent another text asking whatās going on? I received, however, no response. So, once again on the 26th I sent another text upset that no one from Moon Valley Nursery showed up or even bothered to call me. Finally, on the 27th I received a message that they would be out on the 29th. After Moon Valley Nurseries left my property on June 29th I was still missing plants, scrubs and a tree. I contacted the management of Moon Valley Nurseries and received nothing but attitude from the first manager. Here I am the customer whom had paid $33,000 for landscaping that I did not get, as of this posting July 7, 2017 I still have not received all my plants and trees. Once Moon Valley Nursery took my money it was all downhill from there. Today I had one of the owners out to my property where he admitted that plants, shrubs and a tree were still missing. I was over charged, I was lied to, they misrepresented what they were going to do and the work they did, I would have been better off hiring my gardener to do the same quality work for 25%...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI selected Moon Valley Nursery when I decided I wanted to plant 4 large boxed trees to improve my landscaping. I was very happy that I was lucky enough to have Jake Montiel of Landscape Design help me select the perfect trees for my front and back yard. Jake was the perfect person to address all my needs and make sure I was completely satisfied with the trees he helped me select the perfect variety for my yard and the climate. I showed him pictures of my property and he knew exactly the right variety of trees that are perfect for my yard. I couldn't be happier with how much the look of my house has improved. Everyone in the neighborhood comments on the improvement and total strangers stop to ask the types of trees I planted. The entire process was so comfortable working with Moon Valley Nursery from start to finish. Cruz Zavalea was the planting crew manager and he was terrific to work with. He went above all expectations and made sure the trees were perfectly planted in exactly the right orientation and location in the yard. I couldn't be more happy with his crew and these trees were large and no easy task to have planted. He made sure they were given the right amount of Super Charged Moon Juice and Moon Dust fertilizer. The Crane Supervisor Travis Garza came out to make sure that he supervised the operation of the crane and the lifting of the trees into place. These trees were from 48" boxes to 36" boxes. Yes a big job. My wife ultimately was thrilled with the trees especially the triple truck birch tree outside our kitchen window that reminded her of when she was a little girl growing up in Minnesota and visiting her grandmother who had a lot of birch trees. I have 2 big Labradors and a Beagle and the really love laying in the shade of the trees. I've notice a lot of birds have returened to the yard and I love the birds singing and the rustling of the leave in a gentle breeze. And all along the way every one was so nice to deal with and Daniel Patzlaff the Quality Assurance Manager always followed up with everything to make sure we I knew when everything was coordinated and I was satisfied with everything. They were really wonderful about negotiating a great price and I took advantage of the 12 month no finance charge. I highly recommend Moon Valley Nursery and I will be purchasing much more from them...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWorking in event planning, I deal with vendors every single day. Lacey at Moon Valley Nursery just set a whole new standard for customer service. I reached out about renting palm trees for an October fundraiser, not knowing the first thing about what would work for our space.
Within 10 minutes of our first inquiry call, she was already sending photos of inventory from all across their nursery. The next day? More photos from different angles, showing the actual size and scale of each tree. This woman understands that seeing is believing when you're planning an event.
She explained why certain palms would work better than others for our venue, got her manager involved same-day for delivery pricing, and had our quote ready faster than any vendor I've worked with. Most take days just to respond to an email.
What got me was how she actually took time to educate me about the different palm varieties. As a designer, I know aesthetics, but her knowledge about which trees would work best for the different areas of our event based on their characteristics was genuinely helpful. These insider details really matter.
I literally texted her that she's one of the best vendor reps we've EVER worked with. In this business, I usually spend half my time chasing people for basic info. With Lacey, everything just flowed. No stress, no delays, no confusion.
Moon Valley's event rental prices are super reasonable (who knew they even did rentals?), and their inventory is massive. But the real reason I'll be back? Lacey made a potentially complicated rental feel simple. If you need plants or event rentals, definitely ask for her. Your event will thank you.
