Awaken Church — Attraction in Irving

I visited a couple times while in town with my sister that has recently started attending here. I have to say after years of church/spiritual abuse I endured for almost 2 decades. This church was a breath of fresh air. The messages were in-line with what God had been showing and revealing to me personally after the church abuse I left. They preached exactly who Jesus truly is. Not some religious monster who desires just to pound us into submission. They really do preach the truth here. Exposing the lies that hard "pharisee" religion teaches us! Just the couple of times I attended. I could feel God's presence there in the messages/sermons. Tears came to my eyes as they preached on what legalism falsely feeds so many. I also love the fact that its multi-cultural. And not just a white man preaching.😏 Also pastor Ben's wife is very sweet. She prayed a prayer for me at the end of the first service I attended there when I went up for prayer. Her prayer was right on and compassionately worded. Thank you. I pray this church is a safe (place)church for those like myself that have been abused...

I took my family here for a Sunday service and it was a very uncomfortable experience. The people are very friendly and the facility is amazing, but the teaching was one of those things where spiritually it just did not feel right. Throughout the entire message, only 2 verses were read, hardly anyone brought bibles, they weren't needed since they display them on a large screen, worship is a huge concert with lights, fog machines, and performances, more time was spent asking for money than teaching the Word, and the teaching felt very empty of spiritual value.

Perhaps it's because I was raised in a small church, but when going to church I value fellowship and teaching of the Word above all. My idea of a good church is one that focuses the large majority of it's service time to teaching the Word of God so that the Christian will be well equipped to handle the struggles of this world and also develop a far deeper relationship with God. This is not the church for that.

Hadn’t be to church in a while I come here thinking maybe it’s possible to even switch my kids school only for that school to be involved in ungodly act with children on top of the one that was supposed to be coming g to Irving you really have the nerve to start it at a building that looks like it needs to demolished and have us in there for an opening when it was not inspected and illegal for us to be there. And all of the grand thought started in your doors.
