I completely understand that most restaurants are understaffed and are having challenges with hiring good talent. We (family of 4) intentionally went around 2:00 on a Saturday to try and miss the lunch crowd. We were pessimistic about trying this place out because our friends said the wait times were bad, but we wanted to see for ourselves. It was not very busy, about a 20 min wait time for inside table even though several tables were vacant. We figured it was a staffing issue. After 20 minutes we were seated in the very back corner side room. The table next to us was vacant with two large cardboard boxes stacked on the table, made our corner table feel cramped. Nobody ever acknowledged us or took a drink order. We saw the sever bringing food to other tables in the area, but she never looked our way. Other servers came close by to grab items from a supply cart, but they weren’t concerned about a table out of their area. After 25 minutes we decided to leave. We could have said something, but I was worried the food would take a long time once ordered at this point. We walked out and saw 4+ idle employees standing behind the ice cream counter. We thought it was odd to see so many associates waiting to serve ice cream, but very few server or Mgr. presence in the dining area. I couldn’t find one employee to make eye contact with me the entire time we were seated. We left and at...
Read moreConstruction constantly working despite Jacksons posted guidelines for building next to residential areas. When you try and contact anyone associated with the development they don't have time to even return your phone call. Before they started construction they had meetings with local area homeowners and said that they were there to help with any problems caused by development but that was a lie. Construction started with dirt work that ended up being washed away by the first big rain off the districts property and into the neighborhood adjacent to the property. Construction trucks laying on their horns at 3am for days on end. I can't say how much I'm disappointed by the promises the developers made about being able to solve problems only to have them not even care once they got approval for...
Read moreThe District is honestly like the Little Engine that Could, the potential is great. They keep running off restaurants, though Fine&Dandy wasn’t amazing it was decent food. The food hall concept seems great but for me the options just aren’t exciting and right when you start to like a place, they leave. And the bar closes too early, but I understand since it’s so close to the apartments. There’s a salon here with not a single stylist that can style kinky/course textured hair, in a city that’s 80% African-American. If they do, they don’t advertise it on social media. The offerings at the District just don’t feel cohesive. It’s just a mix...
