You do have to buy tickets at the visitor center to come here, but those tickets include (half of) the Jamestown island, the glasshouse, and Yorktown battlefield, so it’s 100% worth it. Idk why NPS wasn’t able to acquire the other half of the island that’s privately owned and costs an ADDITIONAL $15 to visit by proxy of it being separate from the NPS. Seems like a scam to me but that’s just my opinion obviously. The half of the island you can see is without going to the other scammy-half is still quite nice and beautiful in the cooler October weather, pretty monument and fun little educational reading bits on the unique challenges the settlers faced. Read moreWere on family holidays in 2024 when we stopped at the Jamestown site. Yes, you have to pay the National Park and the site, but is was absolutely worth it. The guide, Mark, one of the local archeologists, made a fantastic tour. He made the history of this site alive, in a very reflected, knowledgeable but also lively way. Really was the best guide in such a place through our whole US visit of 4 weeks. In addition, the museum is also worth visiting.
