The Ambler Mansion Ruins are an incredible reminder of what early settlers and colonists were able to build centuries ago. Even though the structure now stands in ruins, it’s still awe-inspiring to imagine the size, craftsmanship, and effort that went into creating such a grand home during that time period.
There is a well-placed sign at the site that provides helpful historical context about the property, including its construction, the families who lived there, and the events that eventually led to its decline. It’s fascinating to connect the crumbling stone and brickwork you see today with the rich stories of the past.

Read moreAlthough this location is in ruins, it has a great ghost story attached to the location. We recently visited the Jamestown Rediscovered and walked down to where the ruins are located within the park.
Thankfully we did some research before visiting the park, but we did have to ask where the ruins were located since it was scorching outside and took some time to walk down to them. We didn't want to wander through the heat of the park.
The insects were biting as well, but we had a quest to find the location.
If you plan to hike through the park down to the ruins, prepare for the elements.
We were so grateful that the park was offering watering stations so that we could refill our water bottles.

You will have to walk across a bridge to get there. You can't physically go inside (for safety reasons).
