The Capital 8 Theater used to be exceedingly clean and had excellent service. Sadly, it seems that ever since the theater came under new management, service went drastically downhill. As the only large theater in Jefferson City, Capitol 8 has no competition. This is very apparent.
To begin, staff is rude and unprofessional. The door advertises a mask rule, yet none of the employees follow this. Now I am not opposed to no masks, as the theater is usually almost empty. But for the people that go expecting a covid-safe establishment, they will undoubtedly be let down. During our most recent experience, we kindly asked the employee to add our reward points to our account because we had forgot. We apologized and the employee proceeded to roll their eyes. The past two times I have gone I have walked past the managers desk and have seen an employee taking a hit of their juul. They 'tried' to discreetly blow the smoke to where customers could not see. Obviously this did not work, as I have seen it happen twice. This is not just an issue with customer service, but with common sense.
Not only is customer service gone downhill, as has cleanliness. During times like this, is it crucial to be clean. But things like clean toilets, -the bare minimum even in a Covid free world- are non existent at Capital 8 Theater. We opened about three or four stalls before one was found that had toilet paper and a clean, flushed bowl. I was under the impression that seats were to be disinfected following the movie. To me, there was no sign of disinfected seats.
I think it is only fair to give places the benefit of the doubt, but I just do not see one. They do seem to be extremely understaffed. However, this is not a proper excuse because most of the time there is no one in the theater to attend to. Certain things, like juuling inside, are inexcusable. It was disheartening to see an employee care so little to juul inside. Not to mention, the door is right by the desk.
I am not sure what the root of the problem is, but Capital 8 has an obligation to fix it. As a long time movie goer, it is extremely disheartening to see what Capitol 8 has become. Going to the this theater used to be a great experience with friendly staff and a clean establishment. What used to be a strong five stars has become a strong one star. Now, we are left remembering what use to be, and...
Read moreTook my boys to see Rampage. Everything was alright until the movie stopped, I mean, there was volume but I'm thinking the bulb blew out because the screen went black. This was right at the ending climax of the movie. Just before the big battle. Now I know GQT Capital 8 isn't responsible for when I get to see my kids. But they did help destroy our family event. The supervisor was hiding and left it to the assistant supervisor. Any who, I asked for another showing for free. She said all they will give is free popcorn and soda coupons. Now I just paid for a 3D( 1 adult 2 teens and 1 child) movie. I will take my family to movies in Columbia theater before I take the chance of watching expensive movie's here in Jefferson City, at least everyone in the theater that night knows that Capital8 is garenteed let you leave there theater with bed bugs and a percentage of your movie unseen and it's okay with them. I guess because we watched the opening credits we didn't deserve to watch the ending credits. The lights went out when the Rock gorilla friend wasn't under mind control, we missed the fight between the wolf and the alligator. $30+ and she was talking about popcorn and soda to make up. Told me I still had to pay another $30 to watch again. So they wanted me to pay $60 to finish a movie they screwed up on..... Capital 8 is...
Read moreRecently visited Capital 8 Movie Theater in Jefferson City on July 26 to watch "Deadpool" and "Wolverine," and unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. The lack of organization was evident from the start, as there was no clear system for lining up to enter the theater. This disarray continued throughout the visit, with no assigned waiting areas leading to confusion. The cleanliness of the facilities was also concerning. The bathrooms were in poor condition, despite having sufficient staff present who seemed more engaged in standing around rather than addressing the cleanliness issues.Seating was another major drawback; the seats were torn and uncomfortable, making for a less than enjoyable viewing experience. To top it off, the sound system was outdated and did not deliver the immersive audio quality one would expect.Overall, the Capital 8 Movie Theater would greatly benefit from a thorough renovation and reorganization. Until improvements are made, it would be advisable to consider alternative theaters for a more pleasant movie experience. Jefferson City is the capital of missouri we should have an outstanding movie theater not one stuck...
