Great little museum with excellent and helpful staff. Very much worth visiting. My sister LOVES the tours and goes on them every annual visit!

*I Do Not Recommend the scavenger hunt currently going on as of Aug 2024!!! I sincerely hope the discrepancies brought to the attention of the staff have been rectified! My poor sister spent two days in the insufferable heat and humidity of the Georgia Coast trying to figure it all out and this is a very intelligent woman familiar with the historic district and the history of the island, NOT your average tourist.

That being said the staff was really great in trying to help as much as they could without giving answers and were receptive when my sister showed them pictures explaining how the puzzles and clues literally didn't add up; there was one clue/ letter too many! And one clue had her looking for something that was once there and now was not with no real indication of where to even start!! Talk about confusing!

If anyone from Mosaic/ Jekyll sees this, the scavenger hunt was a Great idea, but Aug is a terrible time of year to have it, it's just too blisteringly hot. And next time please double and triple check to make sure your hunt doesn't lead your poor patrons on a wild...

We took the historic district trolly tour and it was probably one of our favorite things we did on our vacation. It was fun and interesting to learn about the history of the island and how things came about there. I really liked that they give you an earpiece to hear the guide talk through. He made the 90 minute tour and history telling fun, although, I do wish he wouldn’t have talked quite as fast. I also loved that it wasn’t crowed with them only operating at half capacity. I’m not worried about germs as much as I just don’t like to be packed in like sardines and it was nice to not have to push through a crowd in the tours through the homes. Do book ahead or show up early though as they do sell out quick since they are only taking 20 guests per tour right now. The trolley seats were actually pretty comfortable. I thought they were going to be hard metal but it was a plastic material which wasn’t too bad. Cushioned seats would be a plus. Initially I thought it was a little pricy for $20 per person but afterwards, I saw that it was a great value. We didn’t even get to make use of the admission to the chapel but it was nice that it was included. The mosaic museum and gift shop were nice also. I would definitely...

The museum was OK- it’s sad so few of the families who founded the club left anything behind— but then again is was planned as a maximum security get away for America’s most successful, and consequently most private people. But the trolley tour is 💯! The tour guide looked about college aged, perhaps a grad student. She was well spoken- NEVER a “ummmmmm” or “like.…” which was an absolute pleasure. She knew her history. And she kept an airtight schedule. You get to go inside one of the cottages on this tour as well as getting a free pass to tour the church, so I think all in all it was excellent value for the money.

But just in case you’re like my husband and have a history degree and really wanted to see all the cool artifacts- you basically won’t. What survivor structures. And they...

The Mosaic is a really nice museum of Jekyll Island History. The museum features many things form Jekyll Island History like the Horton House, English and Spanish settlers, the Jekyll Island Causeway, and more. I really liked the place and how you can interact with it. You can touch multiple things in the museum, go inside a sailing boat, go inside a canoe, build your own block dream house, and even go inside a 1940's car that you can imagine going down the Jekyll Island Causeway. It was pretty interesting. There was also a gift shop full of interesting things such as the "Jekyll Island Chronicles". It looked pretty entertaining, but I did not get it because I was trying to save my money. Anyway, really nice museum.

The museum is very tiny with very limited exhibits, but is still interesting. I wouldn't pay to go just to see it, but the trolley tour includes admission to the museum, Faith Chapel, and going inside one cottage and is worth the fee. You can go to the museum and chapel the same or next day as your trolley tour, which is especially nice and you can even go to each more than once during that time. The stained glass windows in the chapel are spectacular and each looks best at different times of day, so definitely check with the staff and find out the best times to go to see each one at it's peak beauty.
