Me and my family went to the museum today and had a great experience (for the first 15 minutes). As soon as we went up the stairs to the second floor all hell broke loose, there was a miniature display of Kalamazoo and we wanted to go see it. We went into there and the first thing we saw was little girls twerking and playing inappropriate and provocative music, we walked out still trying to enjoy our experience. They followed us out and started dancing again, we continued to walk away from them and enjoy the exhibits while they were twerking on the them. Me and my two cousin's were playing this game and there was a sandbox thing next to it, one of the girls took some sand and threw it at my cousin. Then my aunt went over to their mother (who wasn't watching them) and said that her kid threw sand at her. We went into the think tank and because we wanted to get away from that situation and they still continued to followed us into there. Then they proceeded to make vulgur comments towards us by calling us ugly, stupid and making racist remarks. Our experience was ruined by them not the museum and we had to leave. I recommend getting more security so no one else has to deal with issues like this, thx and have...
Read moreVery educational museum, tailored primarily for grade school age children, but had a few exhibits for adults as well. Of particular interest/importance was an exhibit about social media, identifying the source of a message, and verifying its authenticity. In today's world this, this is an incredibly important lesson for everyone to understand, and I was pleased to see a tour group of grade schoolers listening to a guide speak about this. The museum environment was very welcoming and fostered an overall theme of inclusivity. Great for families, children, POCs and LGBT+. Only downside was the advertisement that attracted us mentioned being able to touch a real mummy (which surprised us due to mummies' need intense preservation methods), and it turned out the hands-on portion was only a relief of sculptures/ hieroglyphics. Still,...
Read moreI cannot believe this place has free entry!! It’s much nicer than places I’ve paid to get into! The big downside is the parking. The parking garages around there were completely full and the metered street parking only lets you put in an hour at a time. We had to go back out and put more money in but we were parked really close so it wasn’t bad. The first floor is very small, but still had interesting things to do/ second floor is where we spent most of our time and just barely finished it. We were there for a couple hours. My kids 3 and 5 were very entertained, but it was equally entertaining for the 4 adults in our party. This is a fantastic place to go visit for all ages. The staff was also very helpful and nice. They were also very interactive with...
