I used to enjoy coming to Bronson Park to just soak in the historic churches and buildings of downtown, seeing the Christmas lights of Bronson at night, or riding the Holly Jolly Trolley between Thanksgiving and Christmas, which stops in front of City Hall. Bronson Park was named after the founder of Kalamazoo and has a bandshell, outdoor art and sculptures from local artists, and an honor walk of memorial stones for those who have served our beautiful nation. In fact, the only thing missing from this beautiful landscape is a beautiful historical fountain at the center, a fountain loved by so many!
Obviously, those who stupidly and systematically got rid of this amazing fountain and locked it up in a prison of storage with their broke woke ideologies know next to nothing about the fact that those who erase and forget about their history are doomed to repeat it in an endless cycle. If history offends you, good! Let it develop within you a strong conviction to teach others not to repeat the horrors and failures of the past. History belongs to all of us and those who erase it, erase our heritage which in turn chips away at the fabric of who we are. Tragically when this happens, when a people forget who they are and how far they have come, they become ignorant and lose their vision about where they are headed. This forgotten history erodes their intellectual ability and morally compromises them so their descendants have no choice but to repeat these horrific incidents of the past.
So next time when your son or daughter or loved one points to a monument and asks what it is and why it even matters, you won't be able to tell them because these erased reminders of the past are becoming more frequent and the hardcore lessons they represent will...
Read moreUsed to be 4 stars but things have changed. It was a nice quiet park in the middle of downtown with weird fountains when I was a kid lol. Then it was a Pokemon Go Haven. You would frequently see flocks of zombie looking people meandering around in circles collecting all the pokestops and battling gyms. It was actually cool because it brought together large groups of people who probably never would have met otherwise and everyone playing the same game was a nice ice breaker. Now it is a Haven for the homeless. It's almost impossible to take a step without stepping on someone who's sleeping in the grass and pray you don't need somewhere to set because the benches will have people sleeping on them too. This is in the middle of the day. I definitely understand cities having homeless people but this don't seem like a good spot from the perspective of the city or the people who are homeless. It's literally right next to the courthouse which is full of cops I would try to avoid if I was in that situation just saying LOL hopefully the part can be restored to its former glory and I'll...
Read moreHad an amazing time at Lunchtime Live. Amazing live music by Dylan and a lot of great food options. We did Lemonade at the lemonade tent. They had a lot of great fresh options of different lemonade. There were plenty of great Mexican and BBQ options. Spruce Mexican was great. They had birria options which I enjoyed. I got the birria quesadilla. Porkalicious had some delicious BBQ fries. There was also some AMAZING cheesecake from Specialty Cheesecake. Light, creamy and absolutely delicious. I am not a lemon person. I love some lemonade, but not lemon desserts. I ended up getting the lemon cheesecake, which is one of their best sellers. I see why! It was AMAZING! The creamy cheesecake plus the light freshness of the lemon. I digress.
The park is great. They have a lot of fun events held there. I had the opportunity to stop by at Lunchtime Live and really enjoyed myself. There aren't a lot of kid things to do. There was giant jenga, giant chess, and giant checkers. That kept them happy for a bit. Besides that,...
