With tee times 9 minutes apart, expect 5-6 hour rounds on the weekends. The course has improved exponentially over the last 3 years, and the range expansion is awesome, but they have to pay for all of that, and squeezing in a few more tee times is their strategy I guess.
Also, holes 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 13 are built to bottleneck, and 9-minute gaps only make them worse. Go back to 12-minute gaps at least, have your marshals police the slow groups (not those stuck in between them) and the entire experience will improve.
We love Minor but the overall golf experience has suffered.
REPONSE:
Thanks for responding. I added a star because of that. I get it, that some days, play is just slow. However, I firmly believe 9-10 minutes is not a big enough gap between groups given the course layout and quality of golfers that I see play Minor when we have a tee time. Since that won't change, other things must consider being adjusted.
We were the 4th and 5th group off after the big cup tournament in July, I believe on the 13th. So, technically, the entire course was clear, and yet that was our experience.
Finally, I want to add that a heavy portion of the fault falls on players thinking they are capable of doing things that in reality they are not. So they need to be educated, or moved along so as to keep a reasonable pace of play.
Minor is the best course, and challenge for the $$ in KC. It's a blast, and a hand-down favorite of our group. Everything I've seen change over the years has been an improvement. But on that day, or perhaps as you mention that month, things did not meet expectations. I and a fan and simply wanted to share my...
Read moreThis course just isn't worth the money. It's for the people that wear jeans out to course.
Eagle's Landing, Swope Memorial and Fred Arbanas are much better operations for the money, in better shape, much more traditional/fun golf courses, and all three are within 15minutes of this location.
Pros: The course seems to be unaware they are a member of Central Links, so they don't have to honor any gift cards or gift certificates related to Central Links. Extremely short course, don't need anything more than 3 iron off any teebox. Can leave driver and 3wood in the car. Walkable.
Cons: Clubhouse is very small, and very old, it's a pathetic excuse for a clubhouse. Makes Eagle's Landing's clubhouse feel like a country club. If there are more than 8 people in the clubhouse at a time, it gets cramped quickly. Driving Range is cramped and is MATS ONLY 24/7/365. Mats are warped and outdated in the old section as well. They harbor too much water/terrible drainage system. Not a course I'd choose for their practice facilities, EVER. New management (Kevin) just sits upstairs, doesn't want to deal with any customers or any issues. Even on a busy Tuesday night with league going off, he is nowhere to be found. Cars in parking lot will get hit with golf balls coming off 9 teebox (not the courses fault, it's just gonna happen here). I have never played a round here and not had hole 6 be all sorts of messed up, whether it's the patchy/uneven tee box, or the permanently...
Read moreStuck behind 8 people on a Sunday. Not letting us play through. This is unacceptable. Started at 10:40 and finished at 6,pm. There were storm delays which begs the questions why let 8 people play together?? I love golf but this made me hate it. This course needs to do better. Reply: the 10:15 wasnt stuck behind a group of 8 like my group was so yes I finished at 6. I wrote this mid way through the back nine. The course seemed very aware as the cart girl was taking shots with all 8 of them delaying things even more. She said you allowed it because of a birthday. It had nothing to do with the storm. Period. It was unacceptable of any golf course and I will never return. I've had my price changed vs what I paid online and now this. This is one of the worst courses experience wise I've ever played and I've been playing...
