Wonderful playground with some rough edges. I took my 3 year old here early on a weekday and only saw a handful of other people. The park had plenty of swings. Some of the swings were types we've never seen before so that was fun for my daughter. There are lots of merry-go-rounds and a cool climbing web wall. There was also a toddler-specific area at one end of the park, which was great since she was still a little small for most everything else. I wish this area was larger but it was nice to have it. This park must have been really impressive when new. The obvious highlight is the massive sculptures of the penguin, kangaroo, and elephant. The elephant holds up part of the playground at one end. The kangaroo has a spiral side inside of it. These. Were really neat. As for the negatives I noticed - the park is showing its age and has signs of vandalism, which is a real shame. There is a music station where the kids can use special tools on ropes to hit the chimes and make music. There were three or four different sets to experiment with bit the ropes had been cut on all but one so you could only effectively use one station. There were some broken areas where it looks like previous equipment used to be but was destroyed. There was some broken landscaping blocks. There was also a lot of really disgusting writing on the ceiling of the elephant slide equipment. The place just needs some freshening up. It is still overall really cool. There was a bathroom in reasonable condition. There is also a really neat slide with the only way to reach it is by climbing up through a net web. So some pluses and minuses. Decent overall, could be great if...

So sad to see how badly this park has gone downhill. I went here as a kid for special occasions and LOVED it then. I lived in the area for a few short years around 2000- 2002 & it was fine then. They have a giant penguin, elephant and kangaroo that kids can play in (large statue type figures) & a little giraffe. Kids eyes usually light up the first time they see these. However, I took my daughter and her friends recently (late afternoon-spring 2017) & the place was disgusting. Someone had thrown a birthday party at the shelter and left ALL of their trash (including several large trays of food in throwaway containers, gift wrap trash & a torn up folding table). There was a group of unsupervised preteen/early teen boys there cussing loudly saying VERY inappropriate things and taking ketchup packets and smearing them all over all of the playground equipment. When I confronted them (respectfully) about it they started following me around the park (trying to intimidate me I guess). I finally told them I was calling the police and when I picked up my phone they left. Trash was everywhere. A piece of the fence and been knocked down and left. The park has added a few playground equipment pieces for disabled children which is nice. There is a path behind the park that goes around a small pond . The path is nice and grass is kept neat. Water is filthy though (trash around the edges). This park could be great and feel like a safe place again if it was monitored better by police or something. Unfortunately its just seems to draw a bad crowd now. I couldn't have been more...
