Had a great experience @ Hokuala. Only 4 stars until the front 9 opens up! The ocean side course was available to play and the trade winds made the course extremely challenging as you'll need to either possess the knowledge of flighting a low ball or clubbing it down 2-3 clubs. I liked the layout and rewards you when you hit a good shot. The course was in good shape- fairways and bunkers in good condition and the greens rolled true but not fast. The par 3s were all beautifully positioned with water and canyon gaps protecting the green. Its the feel good type of feeling when you successfully managed to get on the green. Going through the valleys of forests is just beautiful! Each hole offers Kauai golf a unique view like no other. It’s plays tough, though I birdied two holes, one in the pouring rain, with water all over the green. The pictures of the ocean views on the back nine, do not do this course justice, but playing it in person adds to the Love of Kauai’s scenic and iconic coast.
