We Googled local restaurants after arriving to the island. This one had great reviews. We went on Sunday June 18 2017. We had a party of 8 adults. The wait was 5 to 10 mins. We we are seated and the waitress seemed friendly enough. That soon ended....we ordered our food. We asked about specials and recommendations. She literally stood there rolling her eyes. What?? She then came back to our table and removed 4 extra forks from the table...where people had been sitting and touching them. Why??? We asked for additional ice and water and again she rolled her eyes. She bought 1 glass of ice. We asked for more and a pitcher of water. We got audbile grunts and more eye rolling. This time she brought 2 glasses of ice for.a party of 8. No name tags or I'D. We were grateful and appreciative and again she rolled her eyes. No smiling, nor friendliness.Several times we indicated we wanted to split the check but was told they would do it later. There was another couple.in the restaurant whom she seemed to be siding with. She would spend a lot of time at their table laughing and talking but if we had requests she would roll her eyes. I heard her tell the couple that she wanted our group to get out of there as soon as possible. It seems they do not like large groups of people who give them lots of money. The womans bathroom was horibble, no.TP. and very gross and again the stsff literally rolled their eyes when we told them. We were never offered a dessert menu so we asked, again she rolled her eyes. We decided the cost of desseet was over the top so we declined. She gave an audible huff and rolled her eyes. She brought the check and we asked to split it. She huffed again and rolled her eyes again and went to divide the checks. We never saw a manager at all. Food was good. Seemed well made and well presented, with larger portions. AUTOMATIC 18% gratuity added for large party which I don't have a problem with....other than I wouldn't have given her a dime for a tip becuase of the crappy service we received. If this is how the Kauai people treat tourists I am on the wrong island. They don't seem to want to be in service. The food waa good but if you want to enjoy your meal, find another restaurant with...
Read moreWhen we arrived at the Italian restaurant, the staff seated us near the hostess booth, directly under a large fan. It felt uncomfortably cold, so we mentioned this to the waitress and asked if we could move to a different table. She explained that other people often complain about the fans being too chilly but said no other tables were available since the place was full at the time. Later, after a large portion of people left and tables cleared up, no one checked back to see if we’d like to relocate. We stayed put until we asked a second time, at which point they consented, and we moved to a different table. The real letdown, however, was the food. I ordered the cioppino—one of their most expensive dishes on the menu—expecting a standout seafood experience. Far from it. It arrived with just four prawns and no crab that I could spot, but the bigger disappointment was the flavor: just ok, with the ground beef overpowering any hint of seafood taste. I’ve enjoyed far superior versions in places like San Francisco, Florida, San Diego —this doesn’t even come close, so don’t bother getting excited about it. We also got pizza for the kids, and they couldn’t stomach it enough to finish. On the brighter side, they loved the plain pasta, calling it delicious, and the garlic bread was a hit with them too. My wife’s chicken Parmesan was a letdown—cooked fine, but mediocre overall, nothing worth writing home about. We came here based on glowing reviews, but the food left us underwhelmed. To top it off, we overheard a staff member training a hostess, saying customers frequently complain that the online menu lists cheaper prices than what’s charged in-house. Updating their Google menu might not fix the food, but it’d at least set better...
Read moreWe went at lunch time. The place was nearly empty. I had the Grilled chicken linguine, Kathy had the Greek, done gluten free. My food was good, no complaints. Kathy's pasta was overcooked to mush, I would have never let that dish out of the kitchen.
We were in a bit of a hurry, so I asked for the check when the food arrived. Jacquline brought the check, it was for Spaghetti and meat sauce, I guess they got us confused with the one other table. Rather than leaving and sticking them with the bill, I waved for service, a hostess, two servers, and a bartender all earnestly talking among themselves. Finally, the bartender came over and said "I see you waving". I pointed out the mistake. He went over and worked with Jacquline on the point of sale. They came back with a credit on my card - good. But no charge for the meal - bad.
Instead of walking and sticking them with the bill. I called Jacquline back over. Decided to pay in cash. She came back with the change, it was too much money.
In the meantime, one other table of 4 persons came in. They seated them right next to us. I hadn't realized until that moment the tables are a bit close together, but we all scrunched.
Left a small, (10%) tip, for poor service/poorly prepared food, told the hostess on the way out her register wasn't going to clear, but I promised to give the extra money to a homeless person. I left my name and phone number in case management wanted to speak. No call, no surprise. Despite all the shenanigans I still made my appointment with 2 minutes to spare.
If you look at my other reviews, I think you will see I try to be kind, try to catch people doing something good. I have heard great things about this place from others, sorry, I just...
