Swimming & Sunbathing: There’s a swimming area with a floating dock (seasonal lifeguards in summer).

Picnic Areas: Picnic tables and a large grass lawn make it ideal for relaxing or having lunch.

As a Black woman, I would warn other BIPOC’s to be cautious when swimming or doing any water activities while lifeguards are on duty. Several times my partner and I were approached by lifeguards for first swimming not near my paddle board as they like swimmers who are outside the closed off swimming area in the middle of the beach to have a flotation device. Then we were approached for swimming with a floatation device but not holding onto my paddle board as the lifeguard wanted. We were in knee deep water and we previously overheard them say stay in knee deep water if you don’t have a floation device . So we’re in knee deep water with a floatation device and it still wasn’t good enough. This whole situation got weirder and more problematic when other swimmers who were directly going against the standards that were applied to my partner and I weren’t being approached by lifeguards. Within eye sight and walking distance of the lifeguards other swimmers who were in the same area like my partner and I were swimming w/out ANY flotation device and they weren’t being approached. All in all, I wanted to come here to relax but how can you relax when you’re being over-policed by lifeguards who aren’t applying the same standards to everyone else in the water. Not...
