Living in Ohio, I've been to Kirtland often. I love it's beauty and it's history. But this trip was very special for me. I had moved across the nation a few years ago and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints had recently purchased the Kirtland Temple and visitor's center! I made this long trip because I wanted to feel the difference since The Church now owned it. And I wasn't disappointed. The drive here, through the country and little towns was very peaceful. The Temple itself, the same magnificent piece of architectural beauty, but the undeniable presence of the Holy Spirit, brought tears to my eyes. The beauty, majestic architecture, the colorful grounds surrounding the Temple, the history of what took place here, is worth every effort you make to visit. And the Temple is only the beginning of the beauty, history and restoration of all that has happened in this little community, just east of Cleveland! And 30 miles south you have the incredible John Johnson home and farm. Even if you are not a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints, the beauty, the history and the craftsmanship that was poured into restoring this Kirtland, Ohio Village is well worth the time and effort to visit. Just north is plenty of places to eat and lodging. Take a chance! You'll be pleasantly surprised at what you see, learn...

Tucked away in the small town of Kirtland, Ohio stands the historic Kirtland temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was built in 1834-1836 by an impoverished group of early saints at much expense and sacrifice but with great faith and a deep love of God. Due to extreme persecution from outsiders, the saints were forced to move away and abandon their temple after only two years of use. But the visions, blessings and outpouring of the Spirit of God that took place within these humble walls cannot be overstated. In this humble house of God, priesthood keys were restored by Moses, Elias and Elijah. Even the Lord Jesus Christ Himself appeared here to accept this house and to pour out blessings upon the heads of His people. In early 2024, the Church of Jesus Christ reacquired this holy edifice and offers daily tours. Stop by the visitors center and take a free tour through one of the most sacred, yet humble...

What a wonderful building and a wonderful place to visit. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, this is holy ground. And for those who don't view this as a holy site, I imagine it is still a great place to visit, to learn about what happened, and see a beautiful building.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but these were some of the highlights: -A visitor center next to the temple. It has a a full wall window that looks on the temple. -You can take a tour of the temple building, you get to go on all 3 floors, learning about how each was used, and what happened in those locations. -There beautiful grounds around the temple that you can walk through and look at the temple. -There are a large number of missionaries and your guides to answer questions and give tours.

Also make sure to visit historic Kirtland, which is just down the street. It has more to see and...

This is a great historic site of special significance for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint and other faiths with Latter-day Saint origin such as the Community of Christ. The Community of Christ does an outstanding job maintaining the grounds and the temple. Their tour guides are excellent; very personable, detailed, and thoughtful. The temple itself has huge historical significance. As a Latter-day Saint, I have been very moved while on the tour while considering the events of great significance that took place in there. I have heard other Latter-day Saints claim they weren't as moved because the temple is not owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but that hasn't been my experience at all. Well worth the tour.
