This is a very nice little museum well worth the time to visit. They rotate the featured display regularly, and it is always well done and interesting. In addition to the history of the area, the museum has a weekly rotation of midday activities including videos, discussions, crafts and displays. Their website publishes a schedule every month. A good place to go in the summer to beat the heat. The building itself is part of the history of the area, well worth a visit in its own right. They have a courtyard that offers an occasional concert or lecture. And best of all, it's free.

I had a wonderdul and peaceful visit at the La Quinta Museum. I love history, especially California history, and La Quinta has an amazing history from tribes to movies. The contemporary exhibit was awesome and the history on the second floor is mind-blowing. I could have stayed at the museum forever. Clean restrooms, Friendly host at the desk and I got a little sticker to go. I will be back soon.

Absolutely awesome. We came to visit and seen the native and local history as well as the art mural. We also got to see the added photos from 1962 salton sea which was very interesting see, especially the comparison of current versus historical photo which was quite shocking to see. The place is played out nicely and has a lot of good information about the local area. We really enjoyed ourselves and learned some new stuff. The staff were also friendly and informative. Plus it's free admission so who...
