Montrose Beach Dunes Natural Area — Attraction in Lake View Township

Thank you Chicago Audubon and Ornithology volunteers for working to protect this beautiful natural area. It’s a birder’s paradise, but also a lovely place to walk, run and picnic. The dunes are amazing with swallows, ducks and many bird species. There are restrooms close by at Montrose beach and lots of places for family picnics. I love running along here and talking to the birders who can tell you what they are watching that day. It’s safe and there is free parking close by. There are no crowds...

Would be great if it weren't overrun by cars parking on the grass motorcycles and jet skis Most of it is closed off to people except for the area they cut down trees to pave a trail that doesn't allow cyclists

Visited on a very hot morning, but it was still nice with plenty of shaded areas. Pollinator flowers were in heavy bloom and it was a great place to see birds...
