The Dock at Montrose Beach — Restaurant in Lake View Township

The atmosphere was amazing. It was right off the lake and we were able to stop by on a sunny day. The host was great and sat us quickly as we came right before the rush. We were helped by our server once for our drinks and then asked if we were ready to order food, but we weren’t at that time because this was our first time at the restaurant. She did explain that she was the only server working so she left to take other tables’ orders. However, for the rest of our stay, she never came back to check up on us until we were ready to pay for our bill, which was maybe an hour and a half after our last interaction. The gentleman in the black polo took our order (probably a manager) right as we were discussing leaving since we waited a really long time just to put in a food order. I was really hungry so we decided to wait for the food which ended up being another long wait (for four people, we only ordered two entrees to share). The food was bland and not worth the wait, service, and price. For this quality, the restaurant might as well just be a walk up service where people order and pick up from the window if they can’t handle the amount of people who come in with quality service. Seeing the reviews about wait times and from our own experience, it doesn’t make sense to only have one server working. Within that time, I don’t understand how there wasn’t one minute that she or someone could have asked how we’re doing or if we needed anything, it’s that simple. Location is great, too bad the service and food are awful. My wife and I were seated quickly but took almost 10 minutes for a waiter to come over and take a drink order. I asked the waiter what the Ballast Point beer was, as the menu indicated it was a rotating tap. The waiter said that it was posted in the menu. I showed him the menu and he pointed at the "Rotating Tap" noted under Ballast Point and condescendingly said that it was the "Ballast Point Rotating Tap" beer. I had to explain to him that "Rotating Tap" was not a beer. I was returned with a blank stare and the waiter asked what is a rotating tap was. I proceeded to explain to him what is was, it was clear this was the first time he had ever heard of this concept. Once we got past that, the first four beers on tap I ordered were out. My wife ordered a burger with sweet potato fries and I went with the steak tacos with chips and pico. The food came and I noticed that my pico was missing, I asked the waiter if it was coming and he told me the kitchen had ran out. No other salsa or guacamole offered to replace the pico I was paying for. The steak tacos were barely warm, dry, and flavorless. It tasted as if had been made the day before and simply warmed up for me. I also found a mosquito smashed into one of the chopped onions. The burger and fries were subpar at best. It then took over 20 minutes for our waiter to bring us the check after he had cleared away our food and drinks. I would not recommend eating here, plenty of other options nearby that provide quality food...

Walked in it was perfectly fine. Until we sat down to order. The waiter looked at my ID and swore it was fake (it’s legal by the way). My ID got taken to the manager Meghan who claims it looks like a sticker and that they would call the cops and keep my ID I agreed that they should call the cops because it was real. They instead brought the security guard, James to the table (we were calm) and proceed to say we needed to leave and they refused our service. James lightly pushes my friend as we walked out. We walked away and the hosts apologized and stated that they never carded people who looked even younger than us and stated that they were looking were talking about us as we walked in. We were the only black people in the facility and it was clear that this was a racial profile event intended to keep us out. I would not recommend this spot if you are looking to get racially profiled for a mojito. I was once a regular but no longer.

Update: Based owner response.. I wasn't able to provide the address because it was an older address and then went on to tell them the correct address that WAS on the ID and they ignored me. I also stated to the manager that I would provide alternative ID to ensure that I was of age and the manger ignored that as well and stated that they would keep my ID in which I responded I would call the cops due to it being my real ID and my possessions.
