I was a prospective student to attend seu in the fall of 2019. There was several problems with my transcript because I had registered for classes at Polk state for the fall As I was still making my decision about where I wanted to go to school. The transcript from Polk state had the classes on there that I was registered for in the fall. I told Seu this when I submitted the transcript and serval times after. I also was was registered for classes at seu for the fall and I told them when it was closer to school starting that I would drop the classes at one school. On the seu portal they had me taking 28 credit hours when I was only taking 14 at seu. Even after I made staff aware of this issue nothing changed. Also during this process my admission counselor changed and I was not told that I had a new one. I was also eligible for a scholarship based on my high school GPA, but someone screwed it up in the portal. So I no longer had the scholarship showing on the seu portal. They have this new thing this year called the fire ready process and I understand why they are doing it. It’s to make sure all of the paperwork is completed and taken care of before school starts. But the staff would somehow put documents in the system wrong. When you turn in your transcripts and stuff on this portal it will say you are cleared or not cleared. My portal said clear for weeks because I turned in my stuff, then It was changed to not clear because they didn’t know how to put stuff in the system. Then I was told that the system was updating and I didn’t need to turn in anything further. So It stayed the same for several weeks and no change .So I emailed again and was told that the fire ready system is new this year and they are working on importing it. My problem is why couldn’t I have been told up front that this was a new thing they were using instead having to email serval people on the staff to get this taken care of. Also I called sfs at different times of the day and different times of the week and nobody answers during their business hours. I was told I still had my scholarship in place but it was originally on the portal then it wasn’t and the people in sfs couldn’t tell me why. I talked to the presidents assistant and he said he would get me in contact with the right people, a month later and nobody has contacted me. I was also told by the registrar to withdraw from the school but I never attended classes. So why would I withdraw? I was registered for classes in the fall but I was an incoming freshman, so I never attended the school. I was also worried about getting through this fire ready process because if they don’t have you cleared for everything you can’t move in. Which I get that but I turned my stuff in and it was repeatedly put in the system wrong so I wasn’t clear. So I decided not to go to seu based on my experience. They need to hire more competent people. I just got a message from the school on facebook asking for my contact information. They already have it because I applied to the school. Just shows how incompetent...
Read moreEveryone deserves to know the kind of people that are behind the leadership of the schools…what i do not and cannot believe is the unprofessional-ism from the staff. And especially from the director. I was not admitted to this university because they think “im not financially fit”. And academically fit either. Since i graduated it took me this much to finally find a university where i could possibly grow academically, must most importantly spiritually. The director talked to me like i wasn’t worthy enough for SEU. “ the time frame its been like 9 years since you graduated”. Its never to late to grow academically. I'm financially fit, God provides. Angela's attitude starting from the staff to the director is Ungodly. But who am i to judge you. God bless all. angela nunez and the director of enrolment "jc". i got a video call recording for evidence for the unprofessional ism. if anyone is interested in hearing the evience.... They need to hire new staff, real sheep not dressed in sheep's clothing. The enrolment director called me because angela told him. They feel like they're more worthy or better than me. The whole time they spoke to me. If this school is Godly, why don't the staff act like it. At least act like it...Show gratitude, respect, politeness. You don't have to be perfect. Some people just don't like to see others grow. I'm someone who's been at the bottom of the barrel. That's there issue, they haven't experienced what i have. I have a great testimony. I'm able to help others in many ways. But nothing against nobody, i will pray for you angela and the so called counselor director. We all need Jesus!!! God has something else planned for me. So it's okay, i forgive you guys for everything! I'm homeless, probably not a single penny in my wallet. But i have God, Jesus in my heart. I take my cross everyday. Looking for a brighter future. I have all my trust in God. God know's what his doing. At the end of the night, we're his children. And you mr. enrollment director "jc" and Enrollment counselor Angela nunez are better than me! But not in...
Read moreFirst, Let me say that SEU was an amazing university to go to. I made many friends that would impact my life tremendously. As a recent graduate, I will say this... SEU culture has changed A LOT since my freshman year in 2011. They recently incorporated a football program to the university, built a brand new building.. and tore down the iconic Spence hall.. If you attended SEU, you know what i mean by iconic.
Some changes i didn't like that much.. such as this, SEU Worship is a very talented group of musicians using their talents for God. Im all for that, I have some great friends in it. BUT, it seems as if they are being put on a pedestal, almost like they are kings and queens of SEU. Ive seen this happen before in my old church, and it ended very badly. The band split up, and stopped going to church entirely for a few years.
I just hope and pray that the outcome is different.
To end on a positive note..
If you are thinking about going to SEU, I would recommend it.. The professors are awesome and care about their students. Especially in the COMM Department!
Dr. Scott is a one of a kind instructor with a knack for getting to know his students, his classes are hard... but are also fun at the same time.
Dr. Lee is an awesome professor of radio and television broadcast! If you love the outdoor activities, what would have been a 5 minute conversation about an assignment turns into a 30 minute conversation about fishing, or hunting! WSEU Radio was an incredible internship! Thanks again Dr Lee!
Dr. Harris is an excellent advisor, and I would ADVISE you to talk to him about becoming your advisor. Also, his speech classes are fun!
And finally, for you filmies out there, Prof. O'Brien is a fun loving instructor with, who incorporates humor and hands on experience into his classes.
Dont Hesitate...
