Taqueria El Burrito — Restaurant in Lakeland

After seeing the reviews on this place, I was very excited to try it seeing as it is right around the corner from my house. This unfortunately seems to be a case of you get what you pay for. To start off, this place is in a very sketchy location off of combee road where there are several homeless people that just hang out and ask for money. The tortillas they use are extremely dry and don't seem to be cooked long enough. The pork and chorizo tacos were practically inedible, they were sitting in a pool of grease, and the meat was extremely tough and chewy. The steak tacos were at least edible, but the meat was very bland and under seasoned, and the steak they use is extremely low quality that most of it is just chewy pieces of meat. The sauce they have is actually pretty decent, but the amount of it that they give for a tray is only enough for two tacos. The food is sold for a very reasonable price only thing, the food is never consistent. One day it's amazingly good and other days...the seasoning and flavor are lacking. I would give this place 5 stars if the food taste good all the time, not just here and there. Plus, sometimes they run out of salsa for the tacos and gave hot sauce instead. I drive by to and from work every day, and I never stopped because I don't carry cash. One day I decided to ask if they take debit cards, be and turns out I've been missing out for a long time because they do! I ordered the beef tacos. They were really fresh and delicious, especially with a squeezed lime wedge and the little salsa cup poured over them. They don't use flour tortillas, I believe they were corn.
