If I could post negative stars, I would.
This was the single worst retail experience of my life. I walked in to the Pennsylvania Ave. location and spent some time picking out a sofa, and went on to purchase it. The associate (Devin) told me it would be a 3-week wait to get it. This was mid-October, so it sounded like I'd get it by Thanksgiving. Perfect. He asked if I wanted it delivered. I have a trailer, so it wouldn't be a problem for me to pick it up myself, however, I left them talk me into the delivery; $40 extra, and I was told the 3-week delivery was guaranteed if I got the delivery option. It seemed strange at the time that I had already been told a 3-week in-store/stock time, but now was being promised the same thing only if I paid for the delivery. Anyway, I opted in, mostly for the "benefit" of them keeping the deal they had already made with me, but oh well.
3 weeks and a day later, with no contact from the store, I called to get a status update. "It'll be here in a week," they promised, again. Okay, I'm not a big complainer, so I let it go. Wouldn't have it for Thanksgiving with the family, but whatever. I asked that they call me if it would be any later than that.
Next week, same story. No call from the store, and when I called, the chains were moved a week down the line. Again. I did raise a bit of a fuss this time, and they said they would refund the $40 delivery fee, after it was delivered. This was good by me, and I again asked for a call should it be further delayed.
It was. I waited. Two more weeks, gave them a call, and was given the same excuses. I told them this would be the last time I let it go. Now we were in mid-December, and it was obvious it wouldn't be in time for the holidays. I called the following week, and told them I had reached the end of my patience with their incompetence and I needed my money back. They gave me every line in the book: "it'll just be one more week," "just until after the holidays," "if you cancel now, you'll have to pay more to re-order," "you'll be put at the end of the list," etc. On that call, I was done being courteous. I said. "Just give me my money back, no more excuses, no more guarantees, no more lies." I know it doesn't matter that much in the big scope of things, but I'll also add, that every time I called, after giving my name, they always asked for the order number. At this point, my name should have been recognition enough. My order should have been at the top of their to-do list, and I shouldn't have needed to give my story every single week. I spoke once to the manager to tell him the saga, and his response was more or less "that's between you and the salesman."
Anyway, they finally agreed to refund my money, and I thought I had put it to bed at that point. Nope. As a final gesture of utter incompetence, they waited 11 days, until after the holidays, AND after I called to "remind" them to actually process the refund. That's right, they thought I wouldn't be watching my card statement for the refund to clear, and that they could walk away from this debacle profiting over $600 for doing nothing but royally screwing up repeatedly.
This is one of those "never shopping there again, and telling everyone I can to stay away" stories, I guess. I've waited a few months to post this to see if maybe I was being unreasonable. But even after this time, I still can't think of any way they could have handled the situation worse...
Read moreI really appreciate it when I receive above and beyond customer service..Devin, the store manager at ABC WAREHOUSE in Lansing Michigan was able to help us find the exact furniture we were looking for. We"d purchased from another store however; delivery staff wasn't able to get the sofa, love seat and recliner through our door. We're in a new home and wanted to start fresh with new appliances and furniture so that was extremely disappointing.
We called the ABC WAREHOUSE store in Lansing Michigan and spoke with Devin to make a few inquiries, we immediately felt relief.
We do not live in Lansing but fortunately that did not detur Devin from assisting us with our purchase. He sent photos to us, ..once we made a selection our delivery day was set and confirmed. Even making adjustments on when we would be able to receive our items was taken into consideration. I'd give 10 stars if it were possible. It has been my experience that customer service at this level is unfortunately rare .
We are extremely thankful for Devin's assistance and that he helped us finalize our purchase!! I just have to mention something about the delivery person Scotty. After not being able to get our first purchase to fit through our doorway he connected us with the ABC WAREHOUSE Lansing Store. Scotty even placed a call to the the Lansing store to let them know what furniture style (metal frame) needed to be able to fit through our door. My family and I are extremely grateful for the excellent customer service received from ABC Warehouse in Lansing and the Delivery...
Read moreMy husband, a loyal customer of ABC, but no longer, because he purchased a Samsung 4K 55 inch TV. Went out of town for a few days. When we got home & opened the box, to look inside, & read the owners guide, we realized the TV was too big for the wall. My husband received a smaller TV as a gift, that fit perfectly, so we took the TV back. We put the owners manual back in its spot, & sealed the box with clear packing tape. My husband is a blind, disabled senior, on low income. He saved up a long time for this TV. He also felt one week without opening the TV was well under the 30 days to return it. Nobody explained that if we brought it back, after opening the box, we wouldn't get a full refund. He also purchased an extended warranty as well. But when we went to return it, a rude salesman said, we won't give you a refund because you opened it. He said you can either listen to what I have to say, or you can take your receipt with TV, & leave. They totally took advantage of a blind man. They penalized him 30% of the purchase price, & he was out over $90. He could have used that $90 for living expenses. ABC stands for Assholes Being Criminal, because they just got away with ripping off a blind disabled man. Yes, TVs are important to the blind, as there are voice programs that explain stuff. As a final note, be careful of ABC, because if they will rip off a handicapped person, just think what they might do to you! Better yet, don't...
