4 Tha Soul Restaurant — Restaurant in Lansing

I am currently visiting Michigan from Texas and I found this “soul food” restaurant. Being from Texas I know my soul food and comfort food. I don’t know if soul food is different up here or what but it was not good at all. I got the seafood Mac, greens and peach cobbler. The Mac and the greens were extremely salty. Like y’all. Extremely salty. Like the ocean. Listen, I’m one to season my food very heavily but that was definitely overkill. Then the crab wasn’t even real crab, it was that imitation crab stuff. I was hoping the saving Grace of this dish would be the peach cobbler, but I was wrong. It had the consistency of like a thick jello thing. My friend got the lamb chops and she said it had a weird aroma to them. I took a bit and immediately spit it out. Everything that we ordered we threw in the trash because unfortunately it was just inedible. I don’t know if that’s how y’all do things up here but I wouldn’t call that place soul food. 1 month ago Upon arrival there isnt any parking AT ALL. 1st time here took me about 10 mins to decide due to the fact the menu is poorly designed. Everything seems A la Carte or a least I think it is. I didnt see a single combo meal, lunch, or dinner option. The menu items is sporadic and unorganized. (Never seen this at a soul food place) Moving on to my order I was asked 2x-3x what my order was like everything was being made 1 item at a time. I get my order finally 40 mins later (literally i counted) i go home to see the wings covered in parsley. (its a garnish NOT a seasoning) the steak sub I thought would be like a Philly but it was actual steak pieces thats a plus+, although it was good it didnt look appealing.

I like the family pics and Motown icon but the dining room looks like a funeral recession not being funny.

I had the WORST restaurant experience ever. Yesterday I wanted to try a new place, that looked good online, I was so excited and couldn't wait to try. I can honestly say I'll never return, I waited over an hour for food that was said would take, "10-15 minutes" of course that was a lie. I love supporting black businesses, but what I experienced was not right at all. So disappointing. My "Seafood Macaroni" was cold, hard pieces, no seafood, just thrown in a container. French fries were soggy, the Philly cheese steak was bland and just a mess, and honestly the best thing I bought was the Kool-aid. No one cares about the food being made, or the fact of how long I waited. Apologies don't really cut it, especially when I was asked multiple times what I ordered, and what sides, also what flavor did I want my chicken wings, WHEN I NEVER ORDERED CHICKEN WINGS.
