I really wish there was a zero star option. I moved into Lancaster a few months ago. I was shocked by the amount of tourism coming in to see the Amish. I often see this company's tour buses, stopping by Amish farms, schools, and graveyards to watch the Amish going about their normal day to day lives. All the while, they know that people from that bus are staring, talking about them, and taking their picture. I know for a fact that the Amish do not appreciate being watched, and their pictures taken as if they are animals in a zoo. The thought that sickens me is the millions of dollars this company makes at the expense of these families and childrens privacy, and without permission. The video I posted above is one I took of a tour bus from this company. It is stopped along the edge of a graveyard, while a group of Amish is gathered to grieve and pay respect to a loved one, while a bus load of people are watching. I find this extremely disrespectful and rude, and I am offended for them. I understand that there are a few Amish homes, who allow these tourist busses to come in and visit, and that is ok. But for the folks who just want to live their lives in peace, but are constantly being watched and photographed, is incredibly rude. These people are not antique pieces in a museum. This is a group of humans, people with feelings, that just want to grieve the passing of a loved one. The children just want to go to school, without busses stopping to watch and take pictures. They live their lives like this, without any regard to their wishes, all because of the greed of some money hungry people. Please, where is the respect? This place is the definition of exploit.

This review is for the VIP TOUR. Visit in person a family, a farm, and a business. For my sister and I this tour was the highlight of our trip to Amish country. This tour cost $59.95 at the time of this post . Totally worth every cent!!! The tour is 3 hours long. 45 minutes at each stop . You have a meeting point where a small air conditioned bus picks you up and takes you to three stops. Our first stop was a farm: A working miking farm where the family there including the children showed us how the cows are milked every day. We were shown how milk is processed, stored and tested until a truck picks it up. Second stop : A business which was actually his home, where a young man makes different wood items that he and his father sell. He showed us the complete process of how he builds birdhouses , mailboxes etc. The third I found to be most interesting only because we actually spent the entire 45 minute period sitting with a family having a conversation in their front yard . At first I thought it would be awkward but, it wasn’t. Their kids were also present. We were lucky enough to only have 4 to our group so it was very small. The questions went back and forth. I think they may have asked us more questions about us then we of them which we all laughed about afterwards . I have to give a shout out to our driver and tour guide JOE. Great job keeping the questions rolling (haha) . Also very knowledgeable . You obviously know your stuff and the families love you. This is something two sisters from VEGAS 😊will always remember . Thanks again

Looking to get a decent overview about the Amish way of life, I randomly found this place on Google maps. Once I clicked on it to see what exactly it was, I thought it would a perfect overview. I purchased the supersaver 3 in one tour (which happened to come with a buggy ride voucher (reviewed separately)).

We arrived around 10am on a Friday. We saw the short movie titled JACOB'S CHOICE, which had the charm and plot holes of Hallmark movie. However, it was meant to be an overview film, not an in-depth analysis. It was presented in a cute get-up, being displayed on a side of a barn.

After this, we had a tour of the Amish house and schoolhouse. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, but also rather irritated that her normal tour routine was modified due to a school group ahead of us. Once that was out of the way, she was visibly happier and more relaxed. This portion of our tour was only four people, so we didn't need to rush around.

There was enough time between the house/schoolhouse tour and the bus portion to take a bathroom break inside the gift shop. Nothing really remarkable about this, although the bathrooms were really clean.

The final portion of the tour package was a 90 minute bus ride which was narrated by the driver. He told different things about Amish way of life and made a few jokes. I really enjoyed this portion, although was expecting to see different things than what I did. About 2/3 of the way through the bus ride, we stopped at a farm at another gift shop, specializing in handicrafts, with a few things to available to purchase and eat. As a side note, this place had the cheapest prices for the items we found on the entire trip.

After this, it was back on the bus and back to the loading point. We also did get a voucher for Aaron and Jessie's buggy rides, which is reviewed on it's own page.

All in all, a solid, decent value for the ticket price. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend for someone who is looking to learn about Amish way of life. I would recommend arriving early to avoid the mass of tourists, whose numbers seem to grow exponentially after noon. For the person who is planning things, we arrived around 9.45 AM and...

PARENTS TRAVELING WITH KIDS SHOULD AVOID THIS TOUR

We were treated very rudely during this tour by our guide. We were a 5 person group traveling with a 2 year-old. During the tour bus ride our guide (Rosi) was very condescending and treated us with contempt.

We decided to take this tour thinking that it would be kid-friendly, but it definitely was not and we advice any parents traveling with children to not take this tour (or at least avoid Rosi)

Some examples: She rudely asked us to stop taking a video, suspecting that we were recording her talking when we were only recording the scenery as we drove by (no Amish people were even visible). She could've easily asked in a kinder way but was extremely brash and threatening, even saying "It's against the law to record me" when that wasn't the intent at all

The baby was calm throughout and barely spoke, yet she kept glaring at us and at one point yelled at us to "give the baby some food, I can't hear myself think", which was ridiculous since the we paid extra to have the baby attend the tour and we can't control a baby's babbling by just stuffing her with food.

After the tour ended, we came back into the gift shop and we overheard her loudly telling a coworker that "a baby was screaming the whole time, I couldn't hear myself think". This was a flat-out lie, since the baby was actually quiet most of the tour and only had a few minutes of talking.

We felt very discriminated against, since we are a minority family and she kept glaring at us throughout the tour. She reprimanded us several times when others on the tour were making...
