Had a really disappointing experience with the guest "services" team at Luminaria this week, echoing the experience and sentiments of many of the other lower star reviews. Had booked 5 tickets ($125, plus another $10 for a wheelchair reservation) for my family to attend Luminaria, but unfortunately a heavy snow storm kept us from being able to safely make the drive from Park City. I called prior to our reservation, received a call back the next day and described the situation. I was quickly and quite coldly told that I should have either exchanged our tickets over 24 hours in advance (apparently on Christmas Day I should've had the premonition that the weather would be worse than expected and exchanged our tickets) or purchased the exchangeable tickets upon booking. I told the representative that I was kicking myself for not purchasing the exchangeable tickets, and that I'd happily pay an exchange fee to be able to use even 2-3 of our 5 tickets at a later available date; she effectively told me I was SOL.
Up to this point, together with my family we've spent over $300 at Thanksgiving Point this year alone, enjoying the Butterfly Biosphere and looking forward to trying out some of the other TP attractions, including Luminaria. I was even considering a membership to enjoy with my little one. But if Thanksgiving Point is engaging in such shady practices as nickel and diming for $2 "exchangeable tickets" and effectively punishing loyal customers for unforeseen circumstances with absolutely no compassion or flexibility, I won't be going there again. I won't be surprised if in a few years friends say that Luminaria was lovely, but they've decided to tack on a $35 fee for anyone who wants to...
Read moreI loved how nice it was going to Luminaria. I really enjoyed the light of the world display that had many led candles set up around the garden. The garden we were at is displayed year round so we will need to go again when it is warmer. I was wearing boots and that was fine for me but my husband was wearing sneakers and his toes were really cold. We were grateful for the public fire pits but they were very busy. You can reserve them though but I think you need to pay extra for that. I am glad it wasn't snowing but I know it would be especially enchanting if it were snowing. There were a few areas to buy food. We went to the donut stand and there were two different lines for picking up and ordering. A few people cut in front of us which wasn't as nice. We tried out the maple bacon donuts and they were good. As a heads up, you get a dozen mini donuts with the glaze and not a big one like we were expecting. It was pretty nice that they came in a nice tray and they gave us a fork to eat them with. Overall the other light displays were good and we got to see their fire and ice light show before we left. It is definitely something to stop and watch. The other thing I liked was their giant color...
Read moreLuminaria is a unique Christmas lights experience that is unmatched in Utah. You’ll see all kinds of lights you’ve never seen before and didn’t even know existed. There are several different areas with different themes, each one unique and fun. You’re sure to have a favorite. Mine is the purple forest and the candy cane lane. The overall experience lasts at least an hour but can be much longer! There are fun things for children to do all throughout the path. They will be amazed and entertained and downright giddy! The snacks are mediocre, but everything else about this experience is just perfect for families with children and for the child in you! I’ve gone every year since they opened and never been bored or had a bad experience. It’s a never-miss tradition for us now and my kids’ favorite holiday tradition. You do need to get tickets way in advance if you want specific dates or times so watch for them to go on sale in November and plan in advance. Otherwise you’ll end up having to choose from what’s left if you wait until mid-December. I can’t recommend this place enough, it is just truly a unique lights experience you’ll love and cannot find...
