We loved our experience at the Tree of Life exhibit! One of the things we appreciated was the absence of plaques, and I know I’m maybe not in the general consensus here, but it really encourages us to slow down reflect and interpret the artist’s vision on our own (I am familiar with the scriptural vision which aided in this. I would find it difficult to understand otherwise). The symbolism throughout the exhibit is incredible even down to the way the path is designed. We’ve visited twice-once during Luminaria and again in February. The first time we didn’t know which statues represented what, and it was meaningful experience to decipher them ourselves. The second time we used the app which helped confirm our guesses and added even more depth to our visit. The exhibit is stunning, peaceful, and rich with meaning. It truly brings so many things to life and invites quiet contemplation....
Read moreBeautiful, beautiful sculptures and you could scan for pictures and a description of the sculptures. All of this was wonderful, but the sculptures were out of sequence with the scanning, therefore it was difficult to follow the chronological order of the story line. In the spacious building zone the angel that visited Alma the Younger was included. Signs are very much needed for chronological assistance to go along with the scanned program to make it clear of what zone we were in and what the representation of the mixture of the sculptures represented in the zone. This would make the experience much more memorable and understandable (after all of Angela's hard work)!! It was like the sculptures needed to be moved to match the scan and storyline of Christ life and the stories in the...
Read moreAs a member of the LDS church who loves it's teachings and the Book of Mormon I find this exhibit sad. It's in your face, loud (literally with speakers blaring), uninviting, and really just an eyesore section of the garden. It does a very bad job making the teachings of the Book of Mormon seem inviting or loving. In contrast, I love the "Light of the World" section of the gardens... it is a beautiful invitation to learn about Christ. They could have done such a good job with a story as beautiful as the Tree of Life, but I imagine that the LDS Credit Union, which sponsored this section of the garden, had a lot of say in the final product... and needless to say, they...
