It's mind boggling to me how people will come here to complain about the trash left on the tables or the broken dodge balls or all of the popped ball pit balls, but while they're looking at their phones writing their nasty reviews their very own kids are running rampant, unsupervised, breaking stuff and dropping their empty wrappers everywhere. "Oh, the bathrooms are disgusting! Pee all over the seats and all the toilets haven't been flushed." Well, did you make sure that YOUR CHILD didn't drip all over the seat? Did you make sure that they flushed the toilet and washed their hands? And did you consider the fact that the more you and your kids break stuff and trash the place, the more the business has to spend to replace/fix/clean up after you. Which means they have to charge even more for admission. Do you see that you're a participant in this situation, not a victim?
My son and I visited FunZ last Monday for the first time in over a year. Wow, this place has really improved since our last visit! In addition to being cleaner and well staffed, they've added a few amazing attractions that we really enjoyed, even the grown ups.
Unlike the trampoline park in Portland where my son and his friends tend to get bored after only an hour, there are a ton of activities beyond the trampolines themselves. It's enough to keep both kids and adults occupied for hours (so long as they remember to drink water every now and then!) and burn off some serious energy.
I was happy to see that the new areas were open and staffed, even though there weren't many customers when we visited. (Monday at 5:30pm on a beautiful summer day, not too surprised.) The new ropes ninja course looked like a blast! Unfortunately I couldn't talk my kiddo into doing it this time around but maybe he'll feel a little braver the next time we visit.
In addition to the new ropes course, there's now a GIANT ball pit covering the entire bottom of the indoor playground jungle gym thingy, which in and of itself is huge (way bigger than the one at the trampoline park we normally go to). The ball pit continues into a large section next to the jungle gym as well. My son LOVED it. Man, if I'd had this thing when I was a kid I would have been the happiest kid in the neighborhood!
There's also a new parkour ball pit obstacle course, and a large, well lit basketball court with a springy foam-like bottom instead of the usual trampolines. We played on/in both and both were a lot of fun.
Of course, all of this is in addition to their existing attractions: the fort-sized giant Legos (we loved those so much!), the Zipline, tons of trampolines, the dodgeball court, and several Zorb balls (which I politely declined, lol). There's also the foam pit, climbing wall, and the warrior course, etc.
They've also expanded their arcade and added a ticket prizes counter. We didn't spend much time in that section, but it looked pretty decent.
Unlike our first visit, everything was clean and fully functional. There were a few sections missing from the original obstacle course, but it's still useable and still fun. And still a challenge!
There was always someone around if we had a question or needed anything and everyone we interacted with was polite and helpful. There were employees regularly on patrol looking for any safety issues and as well as at the Zipline and ninja ropes course to help the kids do those safely. I also saw employees regularly walking around with spray bottles of cleaner and rags, wiping down surfaces in whatever area they were assigned to. Plus, the ladies room was clean and well stocked.
Both ladies at the front desk were awesome every time we interacted with them. And when my son stubbed his pinky finger while playing with a basketball, the lady at the front desk was ready with an instant ice pack and was happy to help me activate it. (Note: it doesn't snap like a glow stick, lol! Instead, squeeze the center of the pack until you feel something pop, then give it a good shake. Now I know, and...
Read moreWhat on earth has happened to this place? Bring back the prior management PLEASE! I was excited to bring my 2 year old son here on his birthday. You'd think they'd still get a free jump on their birthday but I payed FULL price for him. but whatever, that's just one of many issues. I paid for myself (mom) to jump and my 4 kids. $117. I updated my waiver for my family before paying as instructed. We all had socks from prior jumps. We hadn't been at this location in a while. There are many trampoline parks to choose from in this state and many people have to travel and pick a location. This location WAS one of the most popular locations. Not anymore and now I know why everyone told me to stay away. Anyways, a pair of socks no longer fit my son We realized. I sent my husband (who wasn't even staying) to grab my son some socks before he left. The staff went off on him and said he needed to sign a waiver for himself to buy our son who already had been paid for by me, a pair of socks. My husband was like I'm not staying and my wife already paid and signed a waiver for herself and him. Why do I need to sign a waiver to get my son some socks? She kept getting nastier and nastier until my husband called me over. She then proceeded to argue with me. Eventually she relented and let me buy my son a pair of socks. RUDE STAFF. My mother was with me (kids grandmother) and she wasn't jumping . They make you wear these humiliating red stickers basically stating you didn't pay so they can inspect you for jumping but she still had to buy mandatory socks so they could make that extra buck. Most trampoline parks do NOT make you pay full price for jumping as a parent. It's usually half price or $5 but whatever. Ive NEVER been to a trampoline park that makes parents that arent jumping buy socks!!! I paid for myself to jump. I'm a parent and I was wearing long sleeves and it kept covering up my jump bracelet. The way employees would stare me up and down, circle me, and ask me to see my bracelet was exhausting and humiliating. I felt like I was constantly under attack and couldn't just enjoy my time with my kids on my sons birthday. Its like the staff is the money police for management. They never acted like this before. This place will not be successful with new management. I can already see it. Many people that choose funzee have many trampoline parks to choose from. I drove 1.5 hours to get there. I used to have no problem with it because it was fun, laid back, and a great time. I likely will not return unless things change. I can jump as a parent for $5 at other parks. Or half price in Bangor. Staff is much nicer, Bubbly, and accommodating at the parks in Portland, Bangor, and Skowhegan. The staff currently at Funzee seems to want to spend their time playing cop and being rude, rather than making it a fun experience for the kids. I did like the music. Many parents under previous management didn't have to buy jump socks just to observe either. It's just a money grab. If they just charged $5 for parent jumps, the'd likely make more money but what do I know. I likely won't return under...
Read moreThis was my favorite trampoline park up to my last visit. I am a very advanced flipper and since this trampoline park has two string trampolines, an air pit, and an air track it is the perfect place to come learn and practice hard flips. Me and my flipping buddy would always have a blast. Then there was new management and their prices got better and we went and it was better than ever before. Until we went this last time. I guess they have a bunch of new employees, but when we were doing flips on the airtrack they told us we had to either be in one of the inflatable balls or get off the airtrack. It seemed kind of controlling considering we were very intentionally not disturbing anyone when we were on there. The airpit was also closed for some reason and the two string trampolines which used to be a teen only zone were crowded with little kids who tend to run under you while you are flipping. So we went on normal trampolines and the employee who kicked us off the airtrack kept a special eye on us and then came up and told us we couldn't jump on the same trampoline at the same time. This just was crazy because it was obviously not for our safety, it was to control us. I understand courtesy to others, which I am guessing is why we were kicked off the airtrack even though we made sure it didn't affect others negatively, but the fact that she told US who can control ourselves perfectly on a trampoline, who can do double flips without hurting ourselves, she told US not to jump on the same trampoline and not any of the countless 4 or 5 year olds doing the same thing was just crazy. It was almost comical except she was serious. It just showed that her mindset was on control and not our wellbeing, which I feel like the management is encouraging with all the new rules. I would also like to point out that when I am doing flips people love it. It is very entertaining and people have stopped and watched multiple times while I have been flipping. I have even had someone come up and say he heard I can do cool flips and he wanted to see it. The kids love them too and I always leave having met and talked with multiple kids. Our presence there doing flips is not a disturbance. For most people it is a once in a lifetime experience to see someone doing flips at the level I do them. So it really annoys me when they kick me off just because rules are rules and there aren't good reasons. I also saw the same employee walk up to someone who looked like a grandma watching her grandkid play in the play area and tell her she had to get off the floor because she was not wearing socks. That was just crazy. She was obviously not moving around, just watching her kid. She does NOT need socks. I really would not recommend this place if you are anyone besides a 5 yr old wanting to bounce around. Unless they change the rules and certain staff. It was so fun before but not if I can't do anything besides jump or go in sweaty...
