We had been here about 2 weeks prior to visit my mom in Richmond. At the time we had our dog with us so couldn't do the tour. We went back later and was too they don't do tours on Tuesdays. When they asked is where we were from we told them and the nice gentleman said he would go ahead and give us the tour anyway. Such a great tour guide and so knowledgeable!! It was an absolute pleasure to learn about the history of the battle and the Anderson house. Thanks to the interpeters who went above and beyond to ensure that we got to experience this!!! I would highly recommend this to all who...

My wife and I visited this place the other day and walked around it just looking over the old home. It was really crazy to see all the bullet holes in the front of the house and to imagine what everyone went through that night. It does look like the home needs some maintenance to keep it going, and we suspect that at some point, it will likely be gone due to the dilapidation that is starting. It is an awesome piece of history, to say the least, and a must...

Lexington Missouri is the home to many Civil War historical events. The Battle of the Hemp Bales was fought here. The Anderson House is located on the same property in which this Battle was fought. It was strategic to the North and South as it served as a hospital for whichever side gained possession of it. Visitors can tour the Anderson House and also the museum which features a large diorama depicting the tragedies of...

Very fascinating battle story! Even more exciting is the history of the house. The staff were extraordinarily friendly, and all seemed thrilled to be talking to me about anything in the area. I felt so welcome! The $5 tour of the house was led by a sweet and hilarious lady, peppering the whole tour with jokes and fun facts. I wish it had been longer, because I could have listened to their stories all day!
