š Updated reviewš I just had gallbladder surgery one week ago and everything went great until the aftercare. That the the worst experience of my life. Was rushed out of recovery very shortly after waking up, not even given the option to stay for even the first night, even tho I was in excruciating pain, way above a 10 on the pain chart. The nurse that was suppose to be caring for me was in a hurry to get off work it seemed, she never really spoke to me or asked me how I was feeling or how I was doing as far as pain or anything for that matter, just handed me my clothes telling me I needed to get dressed soon because her shift was almost over. A few moments later, I was going to attempt to get dressed and I started to feel dizzy and nauseous so I asked for a puke bag. I was holding the rail with one hand, holding myself up and holding the puke bag with the other hand, I was trying to calm myself and hopefully not throw up. Then, out of nowhere, this other random lady comes at me with a pillow, doesn't say anything to me, just forcefully jabs this pillow really hard into my stomach, knocking the wind out of me and felt as if I just got stabbed š, mind you, I JUST had my gallbladder removed! So I had 4 very fresh incisions on my abdomen. I immediately screamed/cried out in pain asking why?? Why did you just do that?? Bawling my eyes out by this point in extreme pain. Confused as to what just happened and why!! I kept asking why? What were you trying to do? Why did you just shove a pillow into my stomach?? The nurse finally says , she was trying to help by putting the pillow under the puke bag. BUT, the puke bag was literally laying up against my body/abdomen that was already extremely sore and painful from JUST having surgery a few hours before, so why would you shove it so fast and hard into my stomach??? I wasn't even actually puking, just felt like I MIGHT! I'm still crying and trying to be able to breathe because i now have a stabbing pain right under my ribs every time I try to breath in, I have internal stitches that now felt like they were stabbing me. The nurse gave me something oral for pain and then sits in the chair next to my bed, repeatedly looking at her watch. And then all the other nurses are leaving and telling her bye. She then again moves my bag of clothes over to me and says I need to try to get dressed to go home because it was time for her to go home. I told her I didn't feel comfortable going home with still being in this amount of pain, probably would say at least a 12 on the pain scale at that moment, and I had no one to help me with anything if I went home that night, I'd be alone. I had assumed I was going to be kept overnight so I didn't have anyone to ask last minute to come spend the night to help me. She again handed me my clothes to get dressed. Crying the entire time, I struggled to get my clothes on and was wheeled out crying in pain. I'll never have another procedure there again.
The nurse who prepped me for surgery was absolutely amazing that day and took great care of me, ensuring I would be in great hands and that I would be well taken care of after waking up. And also told me, said just so you know, they aren't going to let you go home from here until you say your pain is at a manageable level of 2-3, manageable with ibuprofen or Tylenolā. So, of you are wanting to get out of here and go home you need to know that. If you tell them your pain is still at a 4 or 5, you won't be going anywhere until they know your pain is controllable. But when I woke up, it was all different people, and that was not the case at all. Everything he had told me, is NOT how my experience was at all. It was a very traumatic experience and this has been the most painful, difficult, miserable week of my life.
Original review- Based on outpatient appts for mammo and ultrasound. Great place, friendly staff and had me in and out of both my appointments...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been home recovering from a bad kidney infection since a one night stay in our wonderful health care facility, Lafayette Regional Health Center. Thereās a great story here I want to share. See I hadnāt been feeling well for about a week but as a tough gal, lol, I thought Iād push through the pain, drink lots of water, take my cranberry extract and Iād be back to normal in no time. Wellā¦unfortunately my tough gal plan didnāt work. Sunday night I was visiting my father and his wife who live not far from Center Point Hospital. While I was at their home my symptoms became severe, fever, chills, severe back pain in the kidney area. At this point I knew I needed help as I was chilling so bad I was shaking. Luckily I had a friend with me so they drove. They told me I should go to ER and wanted to take me to Center Point since we were literally in front of it on 39th St by this time. I told them, NO, take me back home to Lafayette Regional. My friend wasnāt sure I was able to make the best decision at this time, but luckily they trusted me as I was quite insistent they take me to Lafayette Regional. I told them I knew I needed urgent care since my fever was rising and I was shaking so hard from the chills I was shivering uncontrollably. Plus the pain was at a level 12 by this time. Sooo they hit the gas peddle and headed east to Lexington. Upon arrival at Lafayette Regional I was admitted into ER within 20 minutes and the staff had fluids, antibiotics and pain meds administered within the next 20 minutes. The staff was professional, prompt, caring and considerate. I was admitted for a UTI that turned into a bad kidney infection. I was admitted and stayed for one night where I was treated like a queen. My care couldnāt have been better. I was released to go home the next day to continue my healing here. Which may take a few more days but Iām getting stronger by the hour. My friends and family has been wonderful !
The point of my story is if I had chose to go to a larger health care faculty in the city I would have had to wait to get urgent care for 6-7 hours, not 20 minutes. How do I know this? In 2021 I went to Lafayette Regional twice with Covid so I could get fluids and each time I never waited more than 20 minutes. The third time I needed fluids during my time with Covid I went to Saint Lukeās East and had to wait for 7 hours to be seen in ER. It was the worst experience of my life.
This time I knew Lafayette Reguonal could get me stabilized, assess my healthcare situation, get me comfortable and transfer me to Centerpoint if needed, but I was able to get relief immediately, not 7 hrs later.
Sooo peeps, please donāt take our amazing local hospital, Lafayette Regional Health Care Center for granted and donāt pass them by. Give them a try, they wonāt disappoint!
I want to thank the ER staff and day shift that was on duty Sunday night and Monday! You guys ROCKā¦
God bless...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHORRIBLE!!!! My appointment was in the outpatient clinic with Dr Dubin. My appointment time was 11:20am and I got there at 11:00am. The reception area and check in was great. ( that is why the one star).,I sat down in the waiting room and was immediately called back and then asked to go back to the waiting room because the room wasn't ready like she was told. I sit there for about 5 minutes and go back. I get back to the room right at 11:20am. Dr Dubin is as loud as he can be talking about his grand daughter while with a patient. Once done there he goes to patient number 2,( he only had 3 patient and I was the 3rd), he is with patient number 2 for about 10 minutes and leaves to talk to his son about a personal experience. You can hear his son ask how things are going and the Dr replies it is slow going.... He talks for about 5 minutes before returning to patient number 2.That patient leaves and I am left being the only patient there. At 12:45pm I hear the Dr say he is going for lunch and the nurses ask what did he do for the patient in room 1( me), he says "Oh I still have one here?" He comes in and hurriedly goes through my papers and sends me for an xray. On my way back to the room he is coming out of the cafeteria and follows me to the room and looks at the xrays and starts me in steroid shots. After he was reminded that I was still there my appointment time was MAYBE another 10minutes. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE hospital and clinic Oh and there were several nurse standing in the hall talking about patients and other Dr's and why this Dr doesn't come there anymore! UM HELLO? You can't talk about those things in front of other patients!!! Train your staff...
