I came here with my daughter and siblings this is our second time coming here, 1st time was a good experience but this time we ran into a problem. My brother was in the teen section he was playing with a Haitian kid who didn’t speak any English and was communicating with us in broken Spanish . My daughter had a toy that was making music. We were all minding our business as They were playing foosball. a caucasian lady with brunette hair came up to us and told us to turn off the music, I thought she was talking about my daughters toy so I turned it off she continued to talk and ask if the Haitian men could hear her. He was lightly playing music on his phone and singing quietly. my brother said he couldn’t hear her at all since they were playing foosball then came the security team. They told us to turn off the music or they’re gonna kick us out. My sister tried her best to communicate with the kid and asked him if he could turn it down. One of the security guards told the other that they couldn’t speak English the other made an assumption that they could and that they were lying. I was baffled by the hostility and the quickness to make the situation worse than it needed to be. If you don’t want kids to be loud then don’t put a foosball table in the library. The lady could’ve come up to them and tried her best to communicate but she didn’t . They immediately assumed that they were lying and being racist to the Haitian kids. It baffles me to have a racist staff while being in a prominently...
Read moreI find it strange that this library (in a poor part of town) has a frankly pathetic selection. It's odd very odd especially in contrast to the Beaumont public library where not only is the facility beautifully kept but the selection and services are more complete, you'd think that Lexington would supply public libraries in poor neighborhoods (where people are more likely to need the service provided by a library) better but it seems they are more concerned with making sure the richest people in town have the nicest PUBLIC facilities. Shame. (This is not a criticism of the staff who do a wonderful job and are extremely helpful however I will not remain silent on the shameful way our city seems to be spending public money recklessly and without consideration for the people they are...
Read moreHonestly, this staff is AMAZING. Very helpful. Multiple ppl, children families & adults were all asking for help at various times and the staff, each & every time, treated every single individual as if they were honored guests, giving the very best in customer service. The location was very clean & updated, nothing dirty. A very nice library given it is set I to be one of the family branches and being a parent of 2, children aren't always the cleanest of customers. They not rude or mean but they can make a mess, which was never an issue here as the staff was quick to pick up/ clean up all messes immediately. ...
