what can i say, its a great park! i may be biased from having lived in lockport for a while but its got everything! open fields, soccer fields, sand volleyball court, multiple baseball fields, plenty of bathrooms or porta pottys along the walking trails along with some water fountains scattered around the park. theres about a handful of pavillions with charcoal grills to use, and a forest to explore if you wanted to. they keep the park clean and lockport police make regular patrols (dont worry its very safe there) and they have many events throughout the year, but mostly in summer and they have a concession stand open some fridays saturdays and sundays during baseball season. if your kid likes sledding there are plenty of great sledding hills in the winter (especially suicide hill, but dont worry, its just a name!) overall great place for sports and recreation, picnics, grill outs, birthday parties, rollerblading/biking/walking/running, playing with your dog, you name it! and its not as popular anymore but if you enjoy flying a kite a great place is at the top of the "big hill" where it gets more wind....
Read moreIt's beautiful, but gas DANGEROUS cliffs and drop-off points! You have to keep your euts on your kids as these cliffs can be extremely dangerous. Walk the trail together first. There should be more fencing built in these dangerous spots, but they haven't. It is beautiful but has a lot of danger so be wary. The Frisbee golfers are kind of rude and annoying. I don't like walking through a beautiful pla e with my family and having people throw projectiles near us. You get some idiots out there with that so bring a throwback item/ launcer/ projectile shooter of your own, maybe a nasty walking stick. The projectiles they throw are dangerous. If you could go and not have the Frisbee golf going on, it would be great, but as long as they are respective of your proximity, then it's cool. Personally, I just don't feel at ease there even though...
Read moreI’ve been a resident of Lockport for 30 years and have raised two girls and now have a grand daughter. My kids participated in many of the park districts programs and have walked the trails throughout the park. I can’t tell you how disappointed I am that the frisbee golf has now ruined the experience of walking through the park for my family. I have tried to take my grand daughter for walks on the trails I took my daughters on, but sad to say I will never do it again. Frisbees flying all over the place, foul language and littering from people that haven’t spent a dime on this park and could care less if they hit anyone with their hard plastic frisbees. It’s dangerous and. It’s just a shame that after all these years we have to go somewhere else! And for what? Hope it was worth it! And don’t think I’m the only one that...
