I'll give it the three stars, for me that doesn't mean bad. that means pretty good but it was my first stop so I always try places several times before I up my ratings to 4-5 stars. but they're nice people they had great service, the food was good and it was clean and welcoming. I will go back. A few things in doubt I don't know how well my communication was with the clerk, I think their first language was Spanish although they do speak English it's just that I didn't feel like I was communicating well with them. I also tried a prepackaged carrot and pepper jar I'm not sure if it was canned properly but those are just comments like I said it's definitely worth checking out and I will for sure go back get a second bite and maybe even upgrade my review. For Me 3 stars don't mean bad I know everybody wants Five Stars myself included so I won't leave it at this. Update 2.15.22, (Super Bowl Sunday)I have been back several times now, the food does have really good flavor, tacos, beef, pork toastadas, tamales, all quite good. My combo plate without a drink but with carrots on the side ran to $18.00! Wow, thats lunch, not in a major city. Now I will say the portions were considerably smaller, on this visit than before. Quite noticeably smaller and the portion of rice and beans was literally quite stingy and the rice was not fresh it was all stuck together and burnt at the bottom.. They need to step up the quality control overall especially for that price.. Also I will notice mention that I noticed on other visits but specifically on my last visit the entire restaurant was full of smoke from the kitchen. Now the kitchen is sort of window connected to the dining rto the dining room but they definitely need to improve improve their ventilation system in my opinion. it's not the 1st time I thought the place was too smoky to sit there and enjoy my meal. I do like this place the people seem nice although there's a revolving table of helpers. That's how it goes in restaurants sometimes. I will continue to patronize the place and hope that they up there game a little bit. Keep 3...
Read moreI've had the food before and thought it was very good. However, a recent visit was very disappointing. On a Monday evening I walked in there around 8 pm. The cook was in another room and came out after being called on by a very pleasant woman who was cleaning at the time I entered the restaurant. The cook entered the kitchen while talking on his cell phone. He did NOT wash his hands. He did NOT put his cell phone down. Instead, he proceeded to talk on his cell phone while preparing my food. Let me be clear that he was not talking on a hands free phone. It was a cell phone that he attempted to hold to his ear with his shoulder, but frequently used his hands to adjust and switch ears. Mind you, I ordered tacos which requires the use of hands while preparing. I sat there thinking about how filthy the phone was (all cell phones are thoroughly dirty) and got up and left. C'mon! Common sense says that any cook should put down his or her cell phone and wash their hands before preparing a customer's food (especially when the cook was previously in another room and you don't know if his hands were even clean to begin with).
November 2021 Update: After several years I decided to give this place another shot. After being charged nearly $15 for a plain cheese quesadilla on a flour tortilla (which was average tasting at best), I'm done with this place. Do yourself a favor and head a few blocks north where you can get fresh and quality food at Taco Heaven (corner of 10th and...
Read moreThe food is very overpriced. I ordered take out over the phone when she told me my total I was a bit shocked but thought maybe they give a lot of food like most Mexican places. Picked up food came home and was shocked to find what I order for $50 was three fish tacos, three chicken tacos, a side of rice and beans, a side of guacamole and a side of avocados. I’m a big foodie so when it comes to food, flavor, quantity and presentation I’m good at that.
The presentation was good, the flavor horrible. First of all the fish taco was some fried up fillet-oh- fish. It had no Mexican flavor spices nothing it was bland and deep fried in oil so it was very oily. The chicken taco tasted mushy and nasty. The rice was like one half of a spoonful and so was the beans. I was like what the heck!!!!!! This little bit amount of food for $50…….I was so mad. And it didn’t even taste good! I’m throwing it all out. The best thing that tasted good was the chips and guacamole. I am so so very disappointed!!!!! I will never order...
