This is one of the last department stores in town that still feels like an old time.dept store. They are open late during christmas which is great if you work retail and want to shop, however being open till 11pm on a Sunday is a bit extreme. Ashers candy is as good as Gardners and I love their "as seen on tv section". Cimpared to other stores, they have some really good buys in the womens section and every year I go there to buy my wife her annual christmas eve blouse but other items are insane. $30 for 2 pair of underwear? $25 for a $10 black & decker toaster you can get at dollar general? Their big & tall section needs to be expanded and most of their staff is very nice but sometimes hard to find people to help you. Most departments are well stocked and others such as mens clothing need restocked. I guess you can blame covid or lack of workers...but when I the shopper, hear employees openly gossiping/(probably telling the truth) to other employees why they had to transistion somewhere else and move out of their own departments because the female coworkers and supervisors there were nasty and toxic that doesn't paint a good work environment. I really wish they would bring the gift wrapping feature back as well. I shopped there just because of this. It's retail. Its a retail job. That doesn't give managment of a family owned company excuses to treat their employees poorly, have them work swing shifts, (esp their asset protection) and not pay them a...
Read moreDelivery service is garbage. Still trying to get them to deliver a recliner to my dad at the Veterans Home. The driver that called me today couldn't speak or understand English. I politely explained to him he was going to have to go to the security guards desk in either Eisenhower hall or Arnold hall and ask them where it was to go(which is what the VH instructed me to do). He got rude with me because he didn't understand me. I raised my voice in the hopes he'd then comprehend what I was telling him.... he then hung up on me. When I called him back he was being outright disrespectful blaming me for yelling at him. I politely told him I was not yelling I was trying to get him to understand the instructions I was giving him. I repeated the instructions, he got irate and told me we were going to have to schedule to re-deliver which is when I lost my temper with him. What I'm assuming is his boss called me back. I told boss(who did speak tangible English)what I told his driver. Boss said driver said there was no one in sight in any building he'd been in which I know for fact is a bold face lie. I've been trying to call bosses number back since 1:30 this afternoon. No answer, no way to leave a message. Don't know any of their names to report their incompetence to anyone. Truly pathetic way for this company to treat a veteran. First and needless to say last time I deal with Boscovs...
Read moreIn Altoona, I was in a school bus from taking an event down to Altoona. Since I'm waiting in between, I went to Boscovs to shop but they weren't open yet. They opened at 10 am. So I parked in the parking lot until they opened in 15 minutes. I went in Dicks Sporting Goods to see if they had sales. I walked over to Boscovs and went in the store. As soon as I walked in the door, there was this woman with short red hair complaining to another co worker about my bus parked in the parking lot. I looked at her when she said that and asked if there was a problem. I told her I'm the bus driver and I'm coming in to shop for shoes. She told me that I can't park there and I was to leave. Then she proceeded to tell me to park at another parking lot or park that bus at upper part of the parking lot and down by the road. I guess my money wasn't good enough to shop there. So I left angry and went back to the event. I will never shop in Altoona store again. I can see if it was busy shopping seasoning or wasn't in no handicap or front rows. I was in the last row away...
