Panera as a company has amazing food. We enjoy our stops for lunch or to run in for bagels.
This resteraunt in Altoona is very clean, and they keep the areas stocked with lids napkins, etc.
I have never been to a Panera without a line. The line is not due to slow service, but there are always a lot of people ordering at once, which takes time. Even when managers help out, it will take time. This is not a fast food resteraunt. The wait is well worth it.
I have always enjoyed the sandwiches, soups, and bagels. I can not recommend one since all the items are very delicious. Anyone who is having a hard time deciding I would chicken noodle soup is one we gotten frequently. The taste is different from other resteraunts with lots of flavor and thicker.
We normally fill up on our meals and get a sweet to eat later, and the cookies are amazing. The customer service is normally top-notch, and they go above and beyond to make your trip memorable.
Parking here is great and any to find the resteraunt. It is very close to the exit, which is very nice. Other Panera resteraunts can have issues with finding spots or getting in and exiting the location.
The reason for not giving 5 stars deals with the supply. The last few times at this location, they were out of Asiago cheese bagels. I know things happen, and lunch crowds come in and can wipe you out. It's happened loads of times, not your fault by any means. We don't mind waiting 10 to 15 minutes for more to come out. The food is worth the wait. On our visits here, we have tried to get baker dozens of possible or at least a couple, but when we ask the staff, say we are out. When we ask when their next ones will be out, the response is we won't have anymore. I get frustrated when their is no explanation since other Panera resteraunts, they will be out but have more coming. If it's a supply issue, just having the staff say sorry we are out today due to storage. If it's not enough staff, mentioning sorry we are low on staff. If it's the oven broke, etc. Giving just a short explanation or a sign up so people do not wait in line 15 minutes and find out your out, and that's it. I am not sure what is going on at this location, but it's confusing that out of the 4, we stop at its not a problem at their locations.
I would suggest, if possible, putting up a sign to let people know of bagels sold out. When th basket is empty, a lot of times it's filled before we are up to order.
We still love Panera and will continue to get food. But sadly, it will be a...
Read moreI wish I took pictures of everything I'm about to write about. I love panera usually and this experience won't stop me from going to my local panera but I will never stop here on a road trip again.
I went to use the bathroom when I first arrived as I had been in the car for several hours. I have NEVER seen such a disgusting bathroom. The employees and management should be ashamed of themselves for allowing the bathroom to get in such bad condition. There was toilet paper with poop on it on the floor in one stall as well as the toilet being full and had urine on the seat. I didn't see the other stall. I was so grossed out I just walked out of the bathroom.
It was hard to find a table that was decently clean. There was maybe 3 or 4 other groups in the restaurant, not busy at all, so someone should have been cleaning. Management and employees again should be ashamed at the lack of cleanliness.
My husband and I each got sandwiches. They were both flat and basically just bread. In fact, one half of my sandwich ONLY had lettuce on it. My husband brought this to the attention of one of the employees behind the counter and they did correct it.
The baguette my husband got on the side was stale.
The garbage cans had STACKS of dirty plates, bowls, and silverware. When I say stacks, I mean each garbage can had between 20-30 dirty dishes on it. It did not look like the employees cleaned or collected dirty dishes for hours. The place was not busy AT ALL. I even saw one employee walk around, look at the dining area and then disappear. Again, management and employees should be ashamed at how dirty this...
Read moreI use to love Panera Bread, now this location is horrible. I mobile order with my sister and friends all the time. The one day; we mobile ordered two bagels. Both got it toasted and sliced. We mobile ordered, and it said it’d take fifteen minutes. We arrived late, and our food wasn’t on the mobile order spot. I saw my name as being “prepared” and I waited for a good another ten minutes. I watched as the one worker put our bagels in the bag, and let them get cold as she left the bag there. I tried to ask a worker to get my bag, and she ignored me. So I waited until the worker finished her other mobile order for another person who was also waiting (they got a lot of stuff as we got two bagels). when she gave me the bag, I said “finally” since I was quite upset I was waiting for 40 minutes for two bagels. The worker gave me, my sister, and friend complete attitude by saying “there was more than one order, sweetie. You’re not the only one here” which I completely understand, since she did have another order. But when you stand there and watch your food get cold as she takes ten minutes to finish another order is quite annoying. My bagel wasn’t sliced, and barely looked toasted. Just thrown into the bag with no napkins or utensils. This continued to happen many other times (me waiting for a bagel for 30 minutes, my bagel not being toasted or sliced sometimes, etc.) and I’m sick of it and never...
