An asolutely stunning trail!! Very busy no matter when you go so if you're looking to escape people you won't find that here, HOWEVER I still highly reccomend going just because of the beautiful and unique rock formations and water falls. The trail is well kept and is good for all ages and for dogs. I wore my Teva waterproof hiking sandals and was happy for it because wading around thigh deep in the water was blissful and rewarding because it was so hot! If you're in the area go go go! You won't be disappointed. This trail had some of the most beautiful features of any hike I've ever done. Also it spins off of the Buckeye trail so you have the option for some longer hikes.

Very busy and beautiful! Stays fairly cool with the shade from the trees. We loved Old Man's cave and Whispering Cave at the end. Not easy but for confident people you'll do it with ease! Crowds definitely thin out after Old Man's Cave and it's much more enjoyable not having to wait around for people to take photos and block the path. We felt for all the signs, the trails were not clearly marked.

Plenty of parking at this trail head. The trail to whispering cave involves a lot of elevation gain, and some potentially slippery, rocky terrain. Very doable though, and the cave is pretty sweet. Dont plant to hear whispers though, as the waterfall will drown them out. Alternatively, turn it into a sandy beach vacation since the sandstone rocks have eroded to a beach!

If your intended destination from here is to head to Whispering cave then this is a moderately easy trail with a distance less then a mile to the cave. This is not a looping trail so once you reach the cave you’ll head back the way you came. As with all the scenic destinations around the Hocking Hill area be prepared to for changes in elevation, traversing over large rocks in some sections, exposed roots, mud/water, and various types of wet and dry conditions that might cause you to lose your footing and occasionally you might come across a downed tree. I highly suggest wearing a decent pair of hiking boots that offer ankle support. This trail also Intersects with trails to the Old Man Cave area...

Going down is easy. It’s the going up that’s a bit difficult. I started at Whispering cave and then walked down to Hemlock trail bridge. The stepping stones between the two has some high elevation and so for those who don’t really like to sweat, you’re definitely gonna sweat. And for those who like to sweat, you probably will too 🙂

It rained the day before and so the ground was really muddy and slippery. I mention this because the puddles from the rain descend down the steps like a small stream of water. Like that of a small creek flow. Do wear high, waterproof, good grip boots!

Overall, the trail is ok. Not very scenic in January but I imagine autumn whispers a...
