Read moreBalboa Park in Van Nuys is a great spot for outdoor activities, whether you’re looking for a place to jog, play sports, or just relax with family and friends. The park is spacious, with lots of grassy areas, a lake, playgrounds, and picnic tables, making it suitable for all ages.
One of the standout features is the lake, where you’ll often see ducks and geese. It’s a nice place for a walk or just sitting by the water. There’s also a paved path around the lake that’s great for walking, running, or biking. If you’re into sports, you’ll find tennis courts, baseball fields, soccer fields, and basketball courts available.
The playgrounds are well-maintained and perfect for kids, with plenty of slides and swings. There are also BBQ areas, which make it ideal for group gatherings or weekend picnics. Parking is relatively easy, with several lots available around the park, although it can get busy on weekends.
However, the park could use some more frequent maintenance and better restroom facilities. At times, trash builds up in certain areas, and the lake can look a little murky. Safety feels fine during the day, but it’s always smart to be cautious if you visit during the evening hours.
Overall, Balboa Park offers a lot of fun and recreation for the whole family. It’s a great place to enjoy some fresh air and escape the city buzz, but a bit more upkeep would make it even better.
Would definitely recommend visiting, especially on...

There is also a place where you can rent bicycles. They have these bicycles that carry up to five people. They also have a place where you can rent a little geese boats that you can paddle through the lake. I have not tried it before, but it looks pretty fun when I see people doing it. I also see people kayaking but I wouldn’t recommend it because it’s not a very big lake. This park is a great place to chill. If you do decide to bring your pet make sure you keep them on a leash because they can chase the wildlife and that is not cute. It is a great place for family, solo visits and couples. It also has a lot of food vendors during weekends. If you don’t like a crowd, go during the weekday. The park is pretty nice. I highly...
