Charming, small, staff is cool but this place doesn’t quite come close to offering the assortment of books that other well established comic shops offer. The biggest turn off for me is the makeshift pricing. One day a book costs this, another that... if you don’t buy on release day, good luck on finding a reasonable price tag. I’m always in support of small businesses, but I find myself just browsing here more than buying. I get most of my stuff online, where I can actually find what I’m looking for. I’m not sure if it’s because times are hard, but the action figures are priced way above msrp as well. Also important to mention, as I write this, the doors are closed... 32 minutes after doors are...
Read moreWAY overpriced/over FMV. About 3x the eBay prices and 5x the MyComicShop prices. It's as if Mile High Comics opened a shop in Boyle Heights. I also asked to remove a book from its bag to check out the cover and the owner looked like I insulted him (didn't oblige- there was more tape on these bags than Cristiano Ronaldo's ankles). He did give me a free Comic Book Day overstock book for 5 year olds that I didn't ask for, and then said that I should be appreciative of that. Plus overcharged me by about 3 bucks (charged me 15.85% sales tax, where sales tax is 9.75%)[ $7.99 + $11.99 + $19.99= $39.97 x 9.75% ($3.90)= 43.87, not $46.30]. Of course didn't include a...
Read moreI love comics and tcg. I even live in walking distance. But I'll still drives miles out to go elsewhere. I brought my daughter to pick up a booster pack. I think it was like 7 or 8 dollars for 4.99 pack at target. Not to mention everything else above retail value. Comics will be dead if shops like this sell to the rich in a poor area. Like the owner is selling his own stuff at sentimental value.
Tried them for a second time. On free comics book day. And they don't participate apparently.
WONT BE GOING BACK. Hope someone buys it and does...
